Ive just got back from riding 950 miles in France in 6 days and for the first time ever I've managed it without dreadful knee pains. Before I went I removed the knee armour from my Akito leather jeans because I suspected they were the cause of the problem and wow, what a difference!
It seems that the armour has been pulled tight against my knee when riding and after a while it exerts a strong pressure on the knee bone which becomes crippling,
I dont think I've lost any protection either, because off the bike the knee armour moved all over the place so would have been as good as useless in the event of an off.

Would be if I had money to burn!
However, I dont think Im alone in this as my (admittedly faulty) memory reminds me there was a thread on this some time ago.
I suspect its part of the price you pay for off the peg kit.

Had exactly the same problem with my Akito leathers strides. Took the armour out and hey presto really comfortable. And as for less protection when you have an 'off' surely the less discomfort the more you are concentrating on the job of riding.....

Just my two pennarth
