Interesting Nick Sanders made an MBE

Apart from be really good at self promotion and causing some major anti biker grumbling ( his epic journeys with very little sleep cased a lot of people to say how dangerous it looked ) he has not really done very much..

He is being called 'the face of motorcycling' by some of the press..

I would say the UNACCEPTABLE face of motorcycling !


Do not get me wrong, , having met and chatted several times some years ago he is a really nice bloke and he has some GREAT stories to tell, but an MBE ?

As I said, good at self promoting and just after he did those big trips he really was full of it..
About a year later he was at a drinkies do for the trade... Different bloke and kept me entertained for ages...
I think maybe he took lessons from Charlie Borman

Now Charlie Boorman, a true gent to chat with. It was not long after long way round and signed my copy of his book. Called me a nutter for wanting to do land speed racing.

I can't really think of anyone who could be classed as "the face of motorcycling", other than the usual suspects from bike racing. As most of them don't ride on the roads, the next best option would probably be a celebrity.
Boorman and MacGregor are never seen in the press these days so that leads to Beckham, who's often pictured on 2 wheels. Otherwise you're left with Henry Cole. Not much of a choice.

Any other ideas..?

Henry Cole is a bit in your face and all over the satellite channels, very Marmite, you like him or loath him. I quite like him although he’s getting a bit too “lovey” his mate Sam appears to be a very knowledgeable and accomplished mechanic.

Then there were the Hairy Bikers, watching their adventures across the planet while doing cookery shows was fun to watch, and their biking wasn’t too bad - it got bikes on the TV if nowt else. But as the years have passed they too have gone off topic.

He is a bit too upmarket for my taste, BUT, he does present motorcycling to the masses in acceptable way
