Hi,
just completing a deal on a 98 Bird however due to its location am unable to view. Can anyone tell me what year Honda installed the HISS to the Bird?
was it the first of the PGIM injection?

I have a Fireblade rrx at present which has been heavily modded for comfort, but having just completed 1150 miles two up in two sessions i decided to add to the stable.

Does the non injection model still have the wiring loom connector issues? water ingress under tank.

Are there any other issues with the 98 MODEL where there any recalls, any other matters worthy of close investigation.
Regards
Steve Plymouth

Hi Firebird,

Where is the bike that you are interested in? There may be someone local to it that might be able to pop around and give the bike a quick once over for you? Maybe for free, maybe for a small fee.

If you speak to John (JAWS), he has an excellent guide to buying a BB that he produced. I'm sure that he'll forward you a copy if you ask.

I've had a dig around for the copy that he sent me some time ago, but at the moment, I've stored it in a safe place on the computer!:xm

According to MCN's website (link below) the HISS first came on 1999 model year. (see model history)

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/b...Honda-CBR1100XX-Super-Blackbird-1997-current/

The first EFI models cerrtainly had HISS, as can be seen on page 1 of the following brochure.

Hope this helps @tu*.

good looking AND modest
My early 99 Fi certainly has HISS, mine is one of the earliest one's so I would assume they stuck it on when they upgraded from Carbs to injection!!:-0) not heard of any Carb models having HISS!!:dunno:
