Hello! w;;v

I bought my 3900 mile 06 plate Bird back in January, now reading 5400, well happy with it! It is a one owner, totally standard, bar a hugger and screen.

Most of the time I have my wife Debbie on the back, as we like distance. Got a nice trip planned the end of August, 12 days South of France, with a mate on a K7 Busa, so have been prepping the bike ready.

Been viewing this forum for a while, and have purchased many items from Jaws, top bloke!

Mods are...

Gold wheel rim tape (very subtle)

R&G bar ends

Chrome HONDA decal on belly either side

Front mudguard extender (sprayed black to match)

Made up 7 grilles to fill the holes in the side fairings (8 hours work over 2 days! And no fingertips left! Fully lacquered so wont rust.)

Heated grips (40 degrees c)

Starcom Advance 1 Rider/pillion Intercom, with volume control up front

CM SEATS Custom seat. Black with silver piping, uprated sponge and gel pads

Mirror extenders (to see past your shoulders!)

12 volt socket hard wired under seat, switched live, (for charging phone, sat nav etc)

Optimate charging point

Double bubble screen and rear hugger were already on there.

Clear headlight protector

Full Givi luggage and wing rack. E52 top and E41 sides

(Note the indicators, I modified them to fit the bike rather than have them up on the rack)

Bagster leather tank cover, with CBR logo in silver

Bagster black and anthracite tank bag

To do...

Radiator protector grille

HID headlight conversion

EBC HH pads all round (before France)

Polished rims (after France when tyres are off)

Few pics taken yesterday....

All I did put a 1 inch spacer between the bike and indicator, just to clear the number plate. Use a Nylock to do them up.

They are practically made to measure!

I used to follow a mate on his bird, me on a 600f, and I always hated the way his indicators were stuck up in the air like that!

Yeah cant wait for the France trip.

Plymouth > Roscoff ferry, overnight, down the west coast, Bordeaux, etc, meeting some friends in Andorra, then south coast to Monaco, then Northern Italy, Swiss, straight through France, home Cherbourg > Poole on 1 hour fast boat. 12 days, about 2500 miles. :yo:

Got a few other uk trips planned, North yorks, Whitby camping, long weekend, and Isle of White, somewhere we have never been...:-0)

Ian, just read your first post and you say you've made 7 grills up. You're not thinking of sticking them in the air intakes are you? As this will seriously feck up the proformance on an injection Bird.

Welcome Ian, very nice kitted out bike just the thing for high mile trips and like the indicator mod but unlikely to take the trouble to do it myself more of a service & add petrol type of rider

Tank not sure if I followed you through Helsby last night @ half five ish you would have come off the Elton junction I was in the car though but with it being a black one heading towards Frodsham always a chance it could be you

Hi and welcome.

Plymouth > Roscoff ferry
I use that ferry quite often so just in case you don't know a few pointers!

Be careful of all the speed cameras on the way to Plymouth docks from the A38, last time I did the trip a couple of months ago there was 8 fixed installations and 1 mobile ......... all in 5 or 6 miles.
Look out for diesel and adverse cambers on roundabouts as you leave Roscoff! Both the cambers and diesel are always there and can lead to a few buttock clenching moments when you are loaded up!

Hello Mick, the 7 holes I grilled are the 2 huge ones on the side fairing, the 1 at the bottom near side, the 2 on each side where the rear handle to lift up onto centre stand (I never used it, always grabbed the pillion footpeg hanger!) and the 2 'nostriils' on the mudguard.

I read on here about not doing the vents under the light, as the blades behind need to be unobstructed.

ericonblackbird, thanks for the advice about Roscoff!
