Not half! However with funds as they currently are and needing to tax and insure it it's going to be at least a week before I can take her out c7u8

I asked the previous owner when I first looked it her if it had been done (being a good lad and checking things out on here before purchase) and it hasn't,,,, oh joy,,, me and electrics have a long history of fun and games. h1d1ng2
I've seen a link around here somewhere re the fix so I'll probably try and sort it while I wait to get her legally on the road. I have my late father's soldering iron around here somewhere,,,,,

New C&S needed and those front forks have never been touched either so probably new springs from Jaws and an oil change should sort that. It'll be interesting to see how much of my toes I can get on the ground once they're sorted! On the balls of my feet at the moment! Might need to swing the bracket round on the rear suspension, but was also thinking about a spacer,,,, lots to do, but she'll be so sweet once she's done @tu*

I'm not tall  so had a seat remodeled to fit, it's got a gel pad in it and been lowered enabling me to plant both feet on the ground!! :-0) might be worth a try, :dunno:

I had Digger in South Wales do the one for my VFR about 5 years ago and was very pleased with that. Didn't need it lowered, but 25yr old Honda foam wasn't all that forgiving on longer rides...

The Bird has come with a custom made seat (see pic) as well as the original so sorting it one way or another shouldn't be a problem,,, just more expense! Hopefully once the front springs are sorted I'll still have enough leg to touch down and be safe. Not fussed once she's moving of course, but can be rather embarrassing to drop a bike at slow speeds! (note to self, add Jaws' crash bungs to list of things to get!)

Interesting, thanks. The one i got wasn't too far off that at ?250, but just for the Bird and at 46yrs young and 9 yrs NCB. Trouble is having 2 other bikes I need to keep insured so folk can test ride them before parting with their cash does kinda complicate things. Anyone want an immaculate Honda VF750C 1995 in Black with just under 14k on the clock? Or a 1998 FJ1200? (wrong place I know, sorry h1d1ng2)

That's just the light the pic was taken in, it's actually a silver frame.

Hi 4_4_2, hope you have a fun time away mate. Took a closer look at my frame while I was out today and it isn't quite silver. Asked the mate I was riding it with and he said anodised gold,, maybe magnesium gold?

So,,, standing here corrected, it is a gold frame and engine covers.

I was at Loomies darn sarf today and saw another Red one there, a 97 on an R plate. The colour was Red, but a very different, more matt red.

Had a great 3 hour ride and got to know her a bit more. So smooth, and now I'm using the gearbox a bit more my mate on the VFR isn't pulling away from me any more! Showed him a very clean pair of heels on a slip road onto the A3 where he pulled away from me yesterday, very satisfying :-0)

Hello all
As the title says I'm very shortly to become a new Bird owner, deposit paid, picking up my W reg RED EFI sometime over the weekend or early next week.
(Incoommminnnnggggg!!!!)

Really pleased with her. 2 owners from new, both Honda Owners club guys and both were friends & are now past retirement age. This means she's been treated well throughout her life, and treated to some practical goodies
Heated grips
Comfort seat
Scotoiler
Full set of Givi luggage and Wingrack
Monorac for single top box as well
Baglux tank cover
Haynes book
Decent lock n chain + disc loc
Spare engine oil and scotoiler oil + various screws, old grips, and assorted odds n sods we all end up with when we own a bike, all thrown in.

Tom, the seller, uses this site and I found him on here offering the full rack system and cases. Called him about those and found he had the Bird to go with them. Saw it last night and gave him a deposit straight away.

I've been browsing eBay, MCN and this forum for the last couple of weeks, getting info on what's good and what's bad about them. Was very tempted by Martyn's carb model, but with the EFI being just 20 minutes away (as opposed to 200 miles) and being in such good condition, it was too good to miss (even if it is RED). Yes,,, it's may be slower,,, yes slightly more juicy,,, yes it may be a colour everyone else who has a different colour wishes they had so feels the need to take the piss and call proud RED owners Gay. But do I give a toss?

Jaws/John and Toni have been bombarded by emails from me over the last week and have been the most awesome, friendly, helpful folk I have EVER come across on ANY bike forum. So a huge thanks to them both for giving up their time to bounce emails back and forth. Without their help I could have ended up with an over priced minger,,, as it is I've got a real beauty,,, even if she is, just in case I haven't mentioned it already, RED.
She needs a new chain and sprocket set,,, no prizes for guessing who I'll be getting them from, plus any other bits I might need in the future.
Front and rear suspension may or may not need a refurb
Apart from that she looks like she's done 3,600 miles not 36,000.

Can you tell I'm happy?

Ok,,, sitting back, helmet on, awaiting abuse and banter. Bring it on!

Cheers all

Chaz

I know, and an EFI,,,, but she is a genuine 2 mature owner which has been really looked after. Just couldn't walk away. I have some engine black here in a can, could always spray her up.....?!
But the slightest scratch and the red would show and every one would know your a closet pufter and also you still get wasted by proper Black ones 8rfl@

Welcome to forum mate, I've just got my bird awesome piece of kit.

Won't go as far as a lowering kit just yet, but you never know so thanks for the tip.
I've got new fork springs from Jaws to fit this Saturday, plus some other bits, we'll see what the ride hight is like once they're fitted. At the mo I'm on the balls of both feet, once the front stops sagging it could be interesting! I think I'd probably go for a re-moulded custom seat to give me a bit less hight to ground.
We'll see if I need it on Saturday afternoon!
