Hi all
Just purchased my first blackbird after wanting one for ages ,don,t know much about them, just that they look great and ride just as well, and meeting some other owners who have suggested to me to get one.
So i traded in my old ZZR 1100 and got a new Blackbird, and boy what a thrill
i know i made the right choice.
Could any one give me the low down on them the good and the bad.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sorry don,t know what more to say as new to forum.
Regards Larry.

welcome to the forum mate. there's loads of people who know the bird inside out on here, so i'm sure you'll pick stuff up.

is your bike new or used? how many miles? carbed / fi? fast colour? what year?

most people fit a hugger of some sort - pyramid seems to be the most popular option (i have an nws which is ok). also worth fitting a scottoiler - my chain has done 22k still going strong (don't have to adjust it except at services).

if it's used watch out for - reg/reg and cct. both seem to go between 20k - 30k. my front fork springs and rear shock also needed replacing at the 20k service.

lose the dunlops (unless you're doing loads of motorway work). most people here use bt020's or avon azaros (b fit - particular to blackbird, 'busa etc). if you're not bothered by mileage out of tyres, the new avon vipers apparently offer superb grip, but don't seem to be lasting so long mileage wise. i get 7-8k out of the azaro.

jaws http://www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk/acf.htm

pete http://www.blackbirdspares.co.uk/

or bob pinder (sorry i don't have his website - but i'm sure someone will help you out)

all the above do really good stuff for the bird at great prices.

apart from that enjoy the bike. i'm sure others will add to my thoughts.

Welcome and thrice welcome.

Good choice M8. You'll get lots of advice here and plenty of help as well as much am,usement - keep your'e sense of humour well polished !!

I notice your'e in Cheshire - you can see where I am from the post.

If you're not too far away you might want to get together - especially you you want to head off to any of the rideouts. On that subject I'm planning on heading off to bassets pole this Tuesday evening - take 'bout 1hr 10 mins from here.

Usually a few of the guys and gals from can be found lurking around

I'm heading off for the weekend now so won't be online agtain until Monday evening.

Anyway - congrats and have fun !!

Just to echo the sentiments of the above, welcome to the forum, all that is required is a good sense of humour (or even a bad one like Ian robbo's) seriously (yes I can do serious, I just don't make a habit of it) there is a wealth of useful information for just about any subject you can imagine,
Stan can tell you all about Sheep,
Blu can tell you which is faster the Blue or the Silver (though neither as fast as the Matt Black)
Gyppo can advise on home security
Bert can make you some curtains
and Lumpy can tell you how to fall off at low speeds :}
have fun mate and join in.

My sentiments exactly, and yes Marcella does ride a powder puff blue one, I think he bought it from a welshman.
