Well done and welcome growler4. Sure you'll enjoy it.

Think you'll find the pins & needles are possibly gripping the throttle a tad too tightly. I did the same for a little while until I settled down on it. Did just under 400 miles yesterday with not a hand tingle to be found (!) - had to stretch the legs a couple of time though.....

Just put in the miles and get comfy on it.......

Welcome to the forum Growler.

Get a few miles in and she will come to you mate (ooerr!).

You are prob a bit tense at the mo.... try lowering your elbows a bit. This will straighten yer wrist and stop the pins & needles. It'll come naturally anyway as you get to know each other.

One step at a time! Have fun. (You will  )

welcome......

to the forums growler...i'm sure once you get used to "her",and as most have said...your probably gripping the throttle a tad to tight!

if you fancy a "rally"...take a look at the welsh weekend thread in the rideout section,and get yourself along to meet a load of these fine peeps,and bert,gypo,robbo etc :rolleyes: :}

Welcome Growler

Take it steady until you get to know your bbird and she will look after you. There are various options to raise the bars slightly which got rid of the pins and needles for me but time will tell if you need them. Hijack alert. You're up early Stan.....peed the bed again? :neenaw:

Hi Growler and welcome mate..

Re tingles... I suspect it could well be a simple matter of gripping a little too tight, but there are a couple of things that might well improve the situation for you..

The first is replacing the standard bar end weights with stainless steel ones weighing in at twice as heavy ... and the 2nd is a Vista Cruise cruise conrol which will allow you to take your hand off the throttle for a mile or so on the motorways.

both are pretty populat items and both are always in stock here.... :p

welcome to the madhouse growler - enjoy the bird. i also found it a little uncomfortable at first (i came from bmw sofas) - but after a couple of longer rides my body got used to the position, and i now find it as comfy as any of my previous bikes. re what jaws said about gripping a to tight - could this be because you are sligthly nervous of the bird's potential in comparison with your previous steed (don't mean to be condescending of your last bike BTW)?

hope you enjoy the new bike - ride safely:beer:

Hi mate - w;;v

Good luck with your 'Bird.

I found mine to be pretty uncomfortable in general when I first had it and was most disappointed  - however, it's fine now. I think it's one of those bikes that some of us have to mould themselves too or something.... :dunno: (Whereas the VFR fits perfectly straight away..)

Take it easy - that's a LOT of power compared to what you are used to with the big old Z. I just got nicked on mine going pretty faast - and I couldn't really feel it either

The throttle REALLY does work both ways !!! :-:

We must live very close - I'm at Cannock, maybe see you sometime.

You're both not that far from me and more importantly not far from the Matlock twistys ride out on Sunday.

If you're interested see that thread - it's a good way to meet folks, get ideas/chin wag about the bikes and get some excellent riding experience on the bird.

If your'e interested I could meet up with u and show u the way to the meet.
As I say post on the rideout thread if you want to...
