Jaws motorcycles is in Thetford "just a bit away from the smoke" a visit would be well worth the effort!!
as for the above,!! they are more expensive even with the fuel you would use to get to Jaws!! and we "on this site" are VERY confident in Jaws and the services he provides!!

Sort of depends on what part of London you are in !

From North or East London about 80 ish miles..

Basically straight up the M11/A11 till you hit Thetford :p

Hey gee, welcome - like your handle, we can say things like "Oh gee", or "gee!" that'll be fun, well for some simpler minds here anyway. Now, chains, yes AFAM are good, DID X-ring gold are equally good I think - anyone knows the difference nowadays? As for the sprockets, which ones do folk use here? Last time I had Renthal, any different reco?

Sorry, DID chains have been suffering catastrophic failures all summer ( no idea why.. they were, up until this year, the bench mark all others aspired to )..
As for AFAM,, nope.. do not sell them either..
Folk on here know my policy.. before I flog anything I either try it myself, or as in the case of the SSS Golds I now carry, offer them to members at at cost price and let them report back .. If the stuff is good to go then, and only then will I carry it in stock..

What strikes me as odd is that not one of the big suppliers I deal with carries AFAM or Regina now.. perhaps they know something we dont ! :p

That's odd, this thing about AFAM and Regina! What do you mean, this thing about DID? As far as I know, DID gold x-ring is still the strongest chain around with the best resistance etc, no?

stan the man

you are not capable
well....FWIW.....

changed the OE chain and sprockets @ 19,500 as they were fooked, and fitted a gold DID 'X' ring chain and sprockets...also fitted a scottoiler at the same time.bike has now done 35,600 and the chain has only been adjusted once in all that mileage...in a year and a half.

john...are the DID failures just related to units fitted/sold this year?

Yup, I am with you 100 % Pierre.. at least I would be normally..

About the end of May I saw the first one.. A guy on a Ducati something or other ( pos 900 monster ) foned and asked me to trailer his bike home.
Got there and found his chain had broken ( a side plate had snapped ) .. The chain had been on the bike less than a 1000 miles..

Again in Mid June the same thing.. this time on a 996 oddly enough.
By the time we got to August I had had about 6 in total.. all different types of bikes and all with DID gold x ring chains fitted.

Now I have always been a great advocate of all things DID, but not right now.. I have no doubt this is but a minor glitch and they will be back on top of the game but I have seen no mention of this in any of the trade mags which means either they are unaware, I was just unlucky seeing so many, or someone knows whats going down and is keeping schtum !
