Hi Clive

Just a few things,
Do B.I.R.D have any kind of "club" insurance.
I was the club captain for the first Jet Ski club in the <st1><st1:country-region w:st="on">UK</st1:country-region></st1> for over 3 1/2 years.

When we first started we could not get insurance to cover organizers for events and would have been liable if there was an accident.<o></o>

Would the members who put there name?s forward need to have any extra qualifications i.e. advance riding skills

<o></o>

When I marshal for the local toy run I wear a <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Florissant</st1:city></st1> bib, not only to let riders know but also to give other road users the prospective of an organized event and not just a group of bikers out for a burn out.

<o></o>

As I said, just some thoughts.

<o></o>

Isn't there already a National Rideouts Sticky? With a few suggestions that don't seem to have been picked up?

Also - a lot of areas already do organise meets and rideouts, but as they are not organised in a 'club' way, just a group of friends meeting up, there are no issues with insurance or Effing Safety stuff??

Does it need to be organised in this way? I thought Wotnot's suggestion of sections for different areas (see other thread) was a good one :dunno:

EDIT - This was Wotnots suggestion (incase no one saw it back then - it was May last year!!) http://www.bikersoracle.com/blackbird/forum/showpost.php?p=255437&postcount=13

BIRD has no insurance cos it is only a virtual club in that we 'meet' on here.
Anyone deciding to ride with someone else does so of their own volition.
BIRD does not organise ride outs nor do any of the co-ordinators.
They are there merely to co-ordinate ( put in touch with ) other folk in the same rough geographical area who might wish to ride together.

MTK - National means that we would like to cover the uk. also see Jaws post.

Smix, (rideouts sticky) Rhino was co-ordinator but has stepped down. I assume Jaws will put this thread as sticky and remove the original..:dunno:

The other thought is that although each area will co-ordinate its own rideouts, the co-ordinators can arrange 'cross' boarder rideouts with other areas.

Clive, realistically you should not be local rideout person mate..
You must find someone else to do that job.. Or alternately let someone else do the national job and you stand for the local one ?

Suits me chap, my name is now removed...

Would all those with comments like to take up an area, that way your views can be used... or are you just from the anti crowd.

Is there a pension scheme and severance pay?
I've had a quick word with Mr Murdock, the pension scheme will be awarded to those committed. As for severance pay, brok3 contact OBL for immediate severance, bit headyless I know but its the best I can arrange at short notice.

Ah - looks like that is cos the original thread is deleted???? :}

the suggestion was that there should be a sticky for each area, in which people can post what they are doing and when so others can join in if they like - removing the need (maybe) for An Organisor Person.

Just less formal, and more user friendly?

Just a thought?

Along those lines yes. The co-ordinator bit will allow pre planned rides further in advance so hopefully more folk can attend by being able to plan it in their schedule. Newer members will have a name they can contact... infact, non bird posters (they may be members but not post) will also be able to phone a single contact.
A route plan may be put forward to the co-ordinator by anyone and therefore someone who hasn't felt able to plan a ride may do so. Its not just about rideouts, its also about being able to arrange a social side with locals in your area. One person from each area can easily plan with a boarder area and arrange things that way also.

Smixxy you are brilliant at organising, the south east co-ordinator spot is up for grabs. It would be nice to have you do the task and contribute your ideas.
