Blimey, an hour from home (M?laga) on the Wednesday the heavens opened and it rained on and off for nearly 4 hours.. wos going on? - this is Spain!!
Stayed overnight at Cala de Finestrat and headed for Arles the following morning, left Arles and got to Prato on Friday afternoon to find that Lorraine had kidnapped DA and taken him to Florence! Finally managed to track them down and get a snap of the Bird outside the hotel http://i5.tinypic.com/149w0m1.jpg.
Went to practice on the Saturday.. the parking was bliss - easy in and easy out, we suffered the Rossi fans in the adjacent stands http://i6.tinypic.com/149vxnq.jpg ?cos the view from where we were was fabulous. You could see almost all the track down the fast starting straight http://i6.tinypic.com/149w309.jpg and then past us to the bends http://i5.tinypic.com/149w3uw.jpg only loosing sight on very short stretches of the track.
Glossing over the fact that on race day Rossi won (you are bound to hear more of that from DA) and the fact that the getting out of the track on Sunday was far easier by car than by bike ?cos the cars were parked outside the circuit and the bikes were on it and you couldn?t get through for the motorhomes leaving and the crush of people jumping in front of bikes like lemmings. We had some adventures in Prato (where we were staying) which I will let DA recount and moved on to Mandileau de la Napoule which is 2k outside Cannes, but less pricey - I mean it was only half as extortionate!
We were really impressed by Cannes and glad we made the effort, the trompe l?oeil above the bus station was fantastic http://i6.tinypic.com/149w4tx.jpg and it was a lucky coincidence to have been there for the film festival ? rubbing shoulders with the ?luvvies? in their monkey suits http://i5.tinypic.com/149wcj4.jpg and mingling with the rest of the plebs who were there pretending to have money (and there were plenty of ?em, us included!)
From Mandileau we went into France to a really pretty town called Lodeve http://i5.tinypic.com/149wdhd.jpg so we could see the Millau bridge, once again well worth the effort!
As they all say.. sell yer grannie if you have to but if you are in France (road between Claremont Ferand & Montpelier) go see it!
? as you can see you didn?t need to do much dodging through traffic!

Millau itself is very picturesque and I should imagine the inhabitants are forever grateful to have a bypass! http://i6.tinypic.com/14a99cl.jpg
Another bit of magnificent trompe l?oeil in Lodeve .. so clever, innit?
http://i5.tinypic.com/14a99y0.jpg what must it be like to have such talent!
Then back home with a one night stop just outside Alicante and Bob?s ?yer uncle a 5,000k round trip done and dusted!

Wait for DA's report it'll be a wowzer if he has got over the cost of stuff in Italy!

...Going to Italy? p0pc0rn41 ...Think of a budget...Now, double it...!!! brok3 :}

What a trip, eh? And next time I think we'll be joining you in the same stand - people kept crashing in front of ours! sp1ttt3

I'm in the middle of putting some words and pictures together: it's a bit tricky this time, because we crammed in so much - but I'd do it all again tomorrow if I could!

Glad you're home safe, you two, and thanks for reminding us of the great time we had (as if we could forget!). We've decided to stay in Prato next year. Care to join us? :p

Stay safe. See ya soon!!

I'd love to do Italy Eric and well you know it!

There's no way on this earth i'd be able to do the trip on the BUSA with Emma and luggage so maybe i'll have to buy a BIRD / PAN for the trip kitted out and sell it on my return.
What kinda pace were you running at, steady like Spain or Manic like Assen?

Hi John!

I'm sure the Busa would be just as comfortable as the 'Bird as far as touring is concerned - including luggage. As for the pace: we made er...steady but positive progress on all the longer journeys - nobody passed us, anyway. I suppose you'd say a bit more rapid than Spain but nowhere near as frantic as the reported "ride-yer-ass-off to Assen" hyper-speeds!

It was a great trip - read about it soon! :yo:

Ride safe, M8! :k
