Anybody seen/used one of these?

http://motorcyclecarrier.webs.com/

I'm hiring a motorhome in August to visit Scotland would love to tow the Bird as well. Not sure I would trust this with such a big bike but does look like the perfect answer, so looking for opinions from people who may have experience.

There is a picture of a Goldwing being towed by Citreon Xsara Picasso, surely thats not safe the bike prob weighs more than the car

Pretty sure Rolfy Dave has a good trailer for bikes, might be worth PMing him and asking the make, I think it lowers as well to make it very easy to load.

Best wishes,

Rolfy

only good IF you have that old type tow hitch on your vehicle AND you have fitted that back plate.
I have the goose neck type on my motor and it folds away under the car so not much use for me.

Must be legal as years ago I used to go dirt biking on my old suzuki 185 and used to put the front wheel in the boot of my mini and tied down was never pulled.

at that time I was pulled for pushing bike up the road with out a helmet.. solution was to put bike on sons roller skates (brakes locked) and couple of bricks to raise it the required 2 inches off the ground. A dam jobs worth copper. Not sure if thats changed now.

Don't touch it. Absolute rubbish, the bike literally lays on it's side when you do a sharp turn. The geometry is all wrong, the combination of raising only the front, steering head angle and lashing from the bars is all wrong.

Take it from me, I know more aboutthis piece of kit than I can put in writing, steer clear. Buy a proper trailer.

Ask Ian Robbo. He has the experience of several trips to Scotland towing his Bird.
Only one trip to get there and , at the last count, 6 more trips to collect all the bits

No mate. he is talking about those fucking stupid piggyback trailers that leaves the rear wheel on the deck

One of the motorhomers had one and it scared the shit out of me following it

When we got to the sow we were attending I popped out and asked him aboutr it.
When I showed him the video from the DVR he was amazed he had not lost the bike on the way there.
He actually DUMPED it and bought another NORMAL trailer whilst at the show just to get his bike home ( Dunno why,, It was only a Hardly Moving.. Shooda just tied a rope round it and dragged it home 8rfl@ )

Hiya, the RoRo trailer you will have laughed at watching Rolfy Dave "trying" to get his bike off would be the best bet, failing that a Trelgo or similar, robust and when you get used to it, you can put on or take off without any help, "supervision from the missus" :dunno: also a lot cheaper, as Jaws says dont go near those single wheel off the ground things,:wank:

don't forget the weight of the bike, "some" of the fold up trailers are only meant for light bikes or scooters :dunno:

Couldn't you just ride the bike on the trip ?

How/who drives the motor home?? has he medical problems that long trips on a bike prevent?? do they want to use the motor home as a base and tour from a central point, extra fuel if driving/riding two vehicles, lot's of reasons to trailer the bike, none of which are the subject of the question here, like me, he probably has good reason to opt for a trailer. :dunno:

obviously not talking about the ro ro here

No Mac. From what I've seen of RoRo's they're a great idea. I also really like motolugs.

My experience of the stupid towing frame back in 2011 was, a mate bought one, loaded his Fazer onto it here at my house, turned out of my drive scrapping the bikes pegs as it laid over almost horizontal, and a hundred yards up the road the whole lot fell off the car. The maker ended up buying the salvage to keep it out of the courts.
He then bought a motolug, which I then helped assemble cos they come in kit form when new. And I have to say I was well impressed, clever design, well made, highly recommended. If I didn't already have my Brenderup I'd go for a motolug.
