I took the bike for it's yearly Government check-up yesterday. What a ferkin performance :bang:

It's all computerised now and the tester needs the registration document to list the bike on the VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency) database, an executive agency of the Department for Transport. The A4 size certificate you get printed out is only confirmation the vehicle has passed it's test. The computer record is the legally acceptable proof that the vehicle passed. So hope this lot are better at keeping records than DVLA.

Also you now only get 12 months until the next test. With the old-style test you could go in a week or so early and the tester would pass the vehicle until 12 months after the expiry of your previous certificate.

More Government bureaucracy, mechanics sat at computers instead of working on cars/bikes etc, and more expense for Joe Public (the test is now ?23.80)

Still, if it puts the bent garages out of business it may be a good thing. But if they are bent enough they will find a way round it. So once again it's the law-abiding majority who are left to stump up the cash.

I forgot to mention - SHE PASSED k1ap - no work needed. So up yours slobbo :f :}

Is a lunp
also if it fails, they can not retest for at least 1hr. cause the system doesn't let them in.

Also they have to take 40 minutes ( I think) to do the test. They log on to the computer and are not allowed to log out again until the time has expired. I took the Pan in last week and he wouldn't give me the keys until 40 minutes had elapsed. Madness!

40 minutes!

The first MOT centre to invest in a starbucks franchise next to the computer is going to make a killing ;)

40 mins

Talked to my mate ,a biker, who does these all day. They can actually finish it as soon as they like but the time taken is logged and they would have (as he has had) an inspector in asking how they managed to complete the mot in so short a time! :puke:

I don't know who's bike that WAS :eek: :rolleyes: , but I'm told it got a little bit cruddy 'cos the owner rides all year round and not just when it's dry and sunny.

Still, at least it only needs a wash and not all it's electrics replacing :f

You'll also notice it's on the ground and in use, as opposed to hung up in the garage in bits :violin:

Is this a really recent development?
I got my bike MOT'd at the end of August and it was the same as it had always been. This was Bernard's in P'boro where I get the impression they do a good honest job.
