Most expensive Bird in Britain?!

Good morning all, I am about to purchase (tomorrow) probably the most expensive Bird out there. Not owned one before so am looking for a great example!
This one is a 10,500 miler with a full main dealer service history (serviced yearly irrespective of mileage). Full MOT record, ie, no gaps.
It looks mint except for a little damage to the gen cover and exhaust when it was dropped during MOT.
It’s up for £5499. Over the usual but hopefully worth it given the history.
I can replace the damaged parts easily enough and then it will be mint.
I’m sure I could get a great Bird for much less but this one looks really nice!
What does thou learned ones reckon?
Cheers…

If the bike has gone over, it would be worth checking around the nose fairing where the mirror fixes.
This is a vulnerable area should it reach the floor.
You haven't mentioned the year or model, as this will determine things to look out for.

Oh, yes, sorry, it's an early 2005 FI model, everything looks original (apart from tyres!)

So it's looking as good as an 18 year old one can look I guess, just a wee dent on the Silencer and a scuff on the Gen cover. Will see it in the flesh tomorrow!

If the price is right for you, then it’s your call. Loom fix done?

Double :yikes:

Simply an observation…… that is the least desirable Bird (not a ‘bad’ bike in itself just the least desirable incarnation).

Do not underestimate the cost of making good those dings. Could easily be the best part of a grand if buying new.

personally I think it is at least a grand overpriced as is but then again it’s not me buying it. The low mileage is good but mileage is less of an issue than condition. Bird motors are not even ‘loosened up’ at that mileage and can be expected to do at least a couple of hundred thousand miles if basic maintenance routine followed - preferably not by a main dealer.

Well you did ask :)

aAs someone else mentioned above ask if the loom fix has been done…if the dealer looks at you blankly then I would be asking them to do some research and make sure it is done before delivery.
