If they have got DNA evidence then hang them without a trial.
I heard on radio 2 at lunchtime, a debate about proposals to DNA "fingerprint" everyone from birth, and eventually everyone else, and have the details stored on some huge database, so that at a crime scene, swabs could be taken, and hopefully a shortlist of suspects pulled from the database.
Obviously there was all the cries of "invasion of rights" etc.
Me? I'd be all for it, as I believe it could cut down on the time it takes to apprehend the criminal, thus making crime an almost no win situation for wouldbe criminals, particularly in cases such as these child grabbing and rape cases that are currently in the headlines.
Now we all throw our arms up in horror at what has been done to these poor kids, but, and here is the crunch question, would you be willing to put your DNA fingerprint on this database?
I know there are arguments about the use of such a database to exclude some folks from getting life insurance cos they may have a genetic defect etc etc, BUT, assuming that this database was ONLY available to the law enforcement agencies for the apprehension of a criminal, how do you feel?
As I said, I would be happy for my details to be stored, because I have nothing to hide.
discuss please!
