A few of us are thinking of heading over in October. I see a few peeps have been before. Any hints as to the best route over (was thinking of ferry to St Malo) and how the ticketing works (figured I can print at home but wondering about grandstand seating as doesn't seem to be pre-bookable).
Cheers, Pevers

I went on the bird last year with some mates from work.

You can order the tickets over the web and they are quite cheap, 50 euros I think last year for the weekend and including camping.

The circuit is nice and modern but the camping facilities are crap!! The food outlets were shocking and the night time entertainment consisted of a crap band of local "yoofs" who stopped playing at about 9pm just as I was getting pissed enough to enjoy it!!!

We took the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff on the way out as an overnighter, it then took the best part of the day to get there.

On the way back we went Cherbourg to Portsmouth on an evening crossing.

Not sure I'd bother going again to be honest and nobody that I went with rated it.

The best bit was finding some northern geezer on GSX 1400 which he described as his bread van! We all got pissed on cheap red wine and laughed till we cried as he hit the rev limiter and the kill switch creating huge flames for the frenchies. He had a flip number plate which they all loved too!!!

Morphgarth - thanks for that. Sounds like Donnington!!! We'll see if anything else takes our fancy about that time.
