Since I've fitted a K&N air filter, best I have had was 205 miles, running on vapours to a garage and the worst has now been 75 miles!

Tank Range

Mine's a 2000 Injected, I get about 125 miles to a tank. How on earth are you guys getting more than 150. I commute, I go for the occasional scratch, or a gentle bimble around country lanes, I ride all year round. Pillions and instructor mates say I'm smooth but I still only get 125.

There's a little lever down by your left foot. If you prod it around a bit you should find other gears than 1st which will make you go faster but will also improve your mpg. :}

I used to have the same kind of mileage & usage(but 2 up)... Untill I found out that the dealer was using fully synthetic oil in the bird...

I changed to semi synthetic oil, and now it must be loosening up, as we now get about 140-150 out of a tank, and its getting better by the run...

I seem to remember Jaws & others telling me that the engines dont loosen up fully for about 20-25000 miles. So mine must be about 10000 behind now...LOL

Best wishes,

Rolfy

ps... Who cares anyway... As my Noriyuki Haga tee shirt says... "get on the f**kin gas" !!!

best I've ever got was 215, 2 up in france this year, all on autoroute all at about 80-90mph, never quite sure about how much is left in tank when light comes on, dont suppose its an exact science anyway, usually full to brim to light on is about 120 miles.

300 kms!

Get 300kms [186m] about 290k to light then panic for garage. Conditions, 1/2 up don't seem to affect. 97 carb with 78000kms on clock running Silkolene semi-synth. :violin: 8l1nd

I obviously ride like a pussy! man8um c7u8

yes but it has a petrol engine same as the bird..was just wondering if the cold means more fuel needed..seems to be the case :dunno:

ianrobbo1

good looking AND modest
heaters/air conditioning/heated windows etc, all "load" the engine/alternator more, goes without saying the petrol consumption is going to rise as we use them more in winter, :dunno:
also "some" idle git's will take the "jalopy" around the corner shop/etc, rather than walk!! the short journeys don't help either!!

Nooooooo.. the front window is also heated in my car... and by January it will be go out, start the car. leave ruuning for a few mins to defrost the windows THEN drive off ..
That is always assuming the feckin locks aint frozen in which case its a pot of hot water .. then the door rubber sometimes freezes to the door frame so even when the lock is free you STILL cant get in !!!!

Head in the Clouds
And the glass in the wing mirrors is heated on mine!!
Have had the same problem with the door seals occasionally as well. You don`t half have to yank to try and get it open.

Fuel Gauge

Hi Guys.
Been reading the posts and I've noticed a couple of peeps have said about the fuel light coming on.
Question is.. I have an '04 model but my fuel light does not come on at all (?)... I have a red flashing light when the black squares have gone, is that what you are takling about or does the little fuel pump light up..or is mine not working?
I've just done a tank full and have just put 22.20 litres in so if it was going to work I'm sure it should have done so by now.
Cheers Paul

On the carbed ones they have a dial and a pretty little red light that nags you to fill up.
Dont know about the FI cos I aint got one.

And I only get @ 150 to my warning light coming on

Mine's quite shit on MPG. I average 120miles to a tank pottering around town. It is overdue a service, but it makes a nice popping noise from the can on deceleration from the race can. :yo:

Average

I guess. About 150 to the red light and then will go to 200 and take about 20 litres. I reckon Lumpy is only running on three cylinders to get 300 miles to a tank. Or maybe he weighs nowt!

Hmmm, 185 was the best 2 up and the worst was this September on the RSDD trying to get Buzz from up my arse with that Feckin camera, it went down to 107 and the light came on.

Like it has been said before, its fun burning it
