Leather of Cordura?

What do people prefer when on the bike, with leather I tend to "feel" safer, but hate having to mess around whenever it starts to rain at the roadside with waterproofs etc. With cordura and goretex stuff you can just crack on whatever happens, so do you think modern cordura jackets and trousers with armour are as safe or safer than the traditional leather gear? :dunno:

Jono, I think Ben will be able to "put you right" about cordura jackets, following his "off" his sleeve was ripped to bits, and only the fact he had leathers on underneath saved his skin,

Track Day Leather

If cordura was as "safe" as leather why don't trackdays allow cordura and why do racers all wear leather. :dunno: I know which I feel safer in!

Just like Wolfie. Jacket is Hein Gericke Master 5, fully waterproof (500 miles under non-stop heavy rain), the protection is great (second point of impact in my crash last year was my shoulder... not even a bruise!), many pockets so very practical, only thing is the fake leather around the edge of the collar started to crack less than a year from new, and not used for about 6 months following said crash. Leather is better but it's a safety/practicality compromise... just like biking really.

same on my jacket as well, 6-8 months old.

need the pockets you see, phone, wallet, baccy, lighter, papers, tyre gauge, stand puck, plastic gloves, waterproof trousers, house keys, work keys, mini disc and headphones, spare battery for minidisc. Can not fit that lot in my leather jacket, and i hate carry tank bags etc around with me.

I'd be prefer to wear cordura 'cos it's more comfy and cooler, but after me off last wearing a cordura jacket, I only feel safe in leather now with full quality body armour and a decent back protector.

What's in Wolfies pockets

Wolfie - if you emptied your pockets, you'd get another 10 miles to the gallon!

but then i would be slower down hill!!!!! and have no smokes, no phone to call the AA on, the stand would sink and the bike would fall over, my hands would get wet, as well as my legs, no lighter to set fire to things with, and no cards or money for petrol!!!
