Leading a group

Wolfie

Is a lunp
do you think it is ok to ride off and wait for the group to catch up, or do you ride to the slowest pace and get bored/not enjoy theride etc etc etc.

only ask because on our ride today i did not lead (makes a feckin change) but i got bored and over took and two of us fecked off and waited (on the way there, and 3 of us buggered off on the way home)

if i lead the group (normally 5-9 bikes) i make sure people know the main towns to head for and if we are pulling off a road , i stop at the junction and wait.

Was said about me today that "He dont ride the bike to be with us, He rides the bike to ride his bike."

Even tried to ride at the back as well today, shit that was scary, never seen so many stupid overtakes, daft positions and totally wrong positions, complete lack of observation from one person ( i do believe that he can only see ten feet in front of him), was so bad that i could not take any more and had to overtake and get away from a few of them.

WHO DO THEY RIDE FOR

Wolfie what can you say , i think they have missed the point altogether,
riding a bike is about freedom, to make your own decisions in how you ride good bad fast slow, what ever,the point is you ride your bike for ONE person
your self what the fuck do they think its about, if you are using the buddy system the reason is so each rider can ride how they want to and no one is left behind a ride out together dose not mean that you have to follow a set order of placement thats a load of crap, what are they fucking sheep, live to ride ride to live, tell them GET A FUCKING LIFE :neenaw:

Lead bike, or as is the norm I organise the rideout, we all agree to ride for ourselves but the run is broken down into smaller sections, i.e.Leave Little Chef down road A.B,orC & re-group at B&Q, MacDonalds, etc. This way its down to each rider how fast or slow they ride, if we have a rider who needs a buddy we arrange a wingman for them.
We have ran this system for many years now & never get any bitching, the deal is we are all out for the run & fun make it what you want & if you are not happy don't come just to winge
Wolfie if they dont like the way you do it make them organise & control what happens on a ride out. The Fecking ungreatful Wnakers :bang: :bang:

The run yesterday was done by somebody else, nice roads suitable in places for all types of bike, yet in the twisty bits the bikes that should be up front (cbr600's R6 etc) were dropping off like flies.

I know the roads as well as they do, so i fecked off and a fazer 1000 and a pan came with me. The bloke leading (trophy) stayed with the middleweight sportbikes.!!!

Nobody said a word to me personnely but the comment was made to somebody else.

Myself & Emma went to Gypsy's house (caravan) yesterday and had a belting run down there, two up, riding steady and still passed loads of "sportsbikes".
I'm sick to death of groups of "sportsbikes" which can go like hell on a straight clear road but the riders have NO roadsense what so ever.
We came back from Gypo's with my newly aquired KAPPA luggage on board and came upon a loooooong que of traffic headed by farmer Palmer on his Deutz tractor with trailer full of hay, on a long CLEAR left hand sweeper as wide as a motorway with visibility of clear tarmac for half a mile, sat behind the tractor was 5 "sportsbikes" one being a SP1. The rider of the lead bike was trying to look around the outside of the tractor on a left hand bend when all he had to do was look up the inside and he'd have seen it was clear.
So the "sportsbike" posse were left pootling while we got going and we didn't see them again until i was forced to stop and re fuel on ice cream 15 mins later. 8l1nd

that and the fact i would of told him, yes i do ride my bike for myself, if i wanted to sit next to him we should of gone by car and if we had of it would of been quicker!!!!

the first part of the ride was 28.5 miles, we were there 10 mins. before they turned up.

Andy....yet another reason why I tend to ride alone !!!!!

Go at yer own pace, stop when you want to, let the others catch up. Or, blow out the Stevenage and District Bike Club and do like I do....... ride ALONE !!!!!!! :} :}

Couldn't you suggest the ride-out's are done in two groups ??? The faster riders go off at a different time to the slow 'un's but arrange to meet at a pre-determined place ??

That way....you get to enjoy a progressive ride but the slow boys don't feel under pressure to keep up.....would that work ????? :dunno:

There is no problem then Andy !!!!!!! :} :}

But maybe you, and the few others that feck off, should tell the rest of 'em that you plan to do that....... then they won't get upset. Or....why don't you and the quick boys leave 15 minutes later than the rest and meet 'em at the destination ????
