What a bloody good day considering the changing weather.

Met Murt, Eric & Lorraine at the 'Tickled Trout' then went on to meet Fodder, Part Time Pilot and his good lady also his dad 'Barry' & wife 'Joan' who unfortunately had an off on the 'Wrynose Pass' but were ok, the bike sustained minor cosmetics :xm

We headed over the 'Wrynose & Hardknots' passes and up towards Cockermouth before swinging a right onto the 'Honister' pass and around to Keswick before finally dropping onto the 'Kirkstone'...............We stopped for a pee and a laugh at the Kirkstone Inn where we were entertained by a Bagpipe playing youth somewhat out of tune

Have a look at the pics and see what you missed :neenaw:

Guys

Cheers for a top run...even though my dad fell off at 3mph! What a twat:bang:

I spoke to him this evening and he sounds a bit embarrased about it all (and quite rightly so) I told him if he had just waited for 1 more day he could have used his crispy new bus pass to get over there in relative safety
(did I mention he is 60 tomorrow?)

We got back to Falkirk at 6.20 after 412 miles all in. Not too bad as my wife, Morag, hasn't been on the bike in nearly 6 years!.....to busy being bloody pregnant all the time.

Thanks firstly to Rhino for arranging a fab route and for employing his considerable map reading skills

to good effect.

To everyone else, it was nice to meet you all and put a face to the name so to speak.

Hope you all got home safe..

Till the next time

Neil.

Rhino,

glad to see you had a great day mate. Sorry about us having to pull out, but as said, I got a home I have to stop at from time to time.

Seem you all had a great day out and generaly the weather seems reasonable. Seeing as it was such a sucess why don't you apply for the vacant rideout co-ordinators position. I hear its vacant. g0551p

cya soon big fella

LOL..........

I quite enjoyed organising it though we did lose track very slightly at one point and took 2 attempts to find the right road :xm but at least i didn't spend ?400 on a GPS to get me lost.
I'm gonna do it again mid summer when i find out my work times etc.

A good run out.......though parking on hairpin bend on a 3:1 slope over Hardknott to help pick up 'the off' presented a bit of a challenge - Happy Birthday btw Barrie :}

Can somebody tell me what the red sportscar was I had a run in with on the Kendal bypass?.......he seemed to lose interest in the skirmish when that Evo8 appeared on the scene.........hey ho......

thanks to everyone, Paul

P.S. bet you wish you'd bought my old GPSV now John :}

I found that the most interesting bit was when I parked up for the same season, bike in first, side stand down, and STILL it was moving backwards down the hill!

I think the red car was a Mazda something :dunno: but for some reason, all my vision was rather blurred, speed perhaps :t

Good fun tho innit.

Oh... Happy birthday Barrie.

Murt.

...Fodder...Naughty, naughty boy!!...

Fodder, the car WAS a 'Toyota MR2 16V twincam TURBO like 'Freebird's'...

The car infront WAS a Toyota......................................well until we whooped his ass in true BIRD styleeee :yo:

Really glad ya'll enjoyed it even with the diversion and the expensive meal but then biking is about the unknown & un-discovered.......i never knew that road went there

I WILL do another Lakes ride in a couple of months and slip in an extra pass for the hell of it if required. Next time though the 1st one to fall off can buy the lunch!! :lick:

Rhino,

Mid summer sounds good to us mate, the Masiff will be in Scotland 4-8 August, we plan on invading a distillery or two so if you can do any other date than those we should be able to make it.

Nice one mate

As your the 1st to show interest in the new plan i will go with that......... I will also give you details of a distillery in Tomintoul (sp), my old fella is there now with my mate (not IN the distillery, in a B&B near by)
The B&B belongs to a friend of the family and its ?15 each per night and the details are on the 'touring page'.

Did I go then?

Bloody hell.....for a minute I actually though that I had got my lardy arse out of bed and actually made it. It was only when I realised that my old stealthy was still sat in the garage that I realised it wasn't me!!! Glad you all enjoyed it. Murt, if you're passing feel free to drop in. Leyland Rd past the Sumpter towards Lostock Hall, near the new roundabout, cottages on the left, big pine tree in the garden and blue five bar gate. (Or look for the battered hedge, 50yard skid marks and missing bark off the tree where some pissed up arse stuffed his car into my garden at 4.30 on Saturday morning).

Maybe next time I'll get off my arse and join you.

Hiya Andy....

Andy.. Let me correct Ian in his discription of the 'owd girl...

Its very dirty, peeling metallic black over beige.
( all will be explained when you see it !)

Freebird, who lives in Lostock hall has a clean, shiny red one, could have been him?? ( see, the word RED and TRUNDLE go together well, as opposed to, speed, fast, shoot etc for the BLACK one... )

Thanks Ian :f

Murt..
