Went to the post office today and got me my international driving permit for France..
No idea what will happen in the coming months but for the sake of £5.50 better to be safe than sorry..
Spain ( different IDP needed ) has already said no matter what they will not require brits to carry any other licence until August next year, and as that IDP only lats a year ( the French one lasts 3 years ) I will deal with it as and when

We did the same a couple of weeks ago. From what I've read, it's only the Frogs who are likely to ask for it..... no surprise there then.

When I was in France last month there were plenty of occasions where Le flic was stopping locals to do paperwork checks. I’d guess that as soon as the rules change slightly they may target les anglais and shake them down.
