I already booked all ferry's but can anyone recommended some camp sites ??? Where is the best place too stay ?

?

Best place to stay is all relative to how much you want to drink !

Douglas is the main party place so any campsite near there will be a short taxi (or beer scooter) ride away.

There is normally a camp site at Douglas High School Old boys football pitch - just up from the north end of the prom (will try and find details and post back)

Glen Dhoo at Hillbery is popular - 01624-621254

I think that Douglas Rugby Club (by Quarterbridge) does a tented village which would save you from bringing a tent (will try and find details and post back)

Glen Lough is on the TT course between Union Mills and Glen Vine - awesome place to watch until the ACU banned sitting on the hedge this year (wankers - ACU that is) 01624-852057. Regular bus service in or you can use your thumb (I tend to pick people up when I'm in my people carrier heading to/from gigs etc)

Peel is a nice place to stay and the Creek pub on the quay is awesome ! 01624-844339.

Homestay is a good alternative - basically people 'rent' out rooms on B&B terms http://www.visitisleofman.com/homestay/

Hope this helps and glad you are coming over :)

That's way expensive !!! Just buy a tent on ebay over the winter when they are cheap and post it to me a month before. I'll chuck it in my garage for you. Same offer applies to any B.I.R.D Sponsor (pictures a garage full of tents with little tags to say whose is whose !!!)

Stuff in TT can be expensive but it depends where you buy from and how much you are used to paying. The supermarkets don't put their prices up and off licences are pretty cheap.

I wondered only about food prices but now after your explanation I'm fine......now we will get chance spend more cash for drinks :-0) :-0) :-0) :-0)

when I used to camp for the TT, it can sometimes be easier to buy airbeds and towels and things when you get there. One year I bought the airbed for about ?10, a duvet for about the same, and just left them there! Ok, ?20 'wasted', but less luggage and easy to sort out on arrival.

I intend to be there next year too, so hopefully see you there!

Your garage sounds tempting once all those tents have been picked up will there be room for a couple of bikes and air beds on the floor (LOL), more likely to be coming over for a couple of days in the week by ferry on foot so the local B&B will surfice for us

sounds good - I did try one before (last year I think!), but no one turned up  Well, one guy did, but only cos I'd met him before and we were at the same garage the day before!!!!!

I am determined to be there next year. This year is the first time I have not been over for both TT and Manx since owning a bike  so 100% gonna be there next year.

some of my friends give up....... reason ???? the reason is that .....price for a ferry from Liverpool to Douglas(why its like that ,when you are making a booking true a web ,you don't know a final coast ?????you must pay only deposit and after some time you getting final price for a ticket if you agree you're paying if not you are losing your deposit!!! its legally act???? ) ....booking made almost 7 months before cost for 1 bike 266 eur (both ways plus seating place) .......where for 1 bike plus cabin from Holland do Harwich we paying 196 euro .....btw I and my other friend from Sweden are still on the list ...other 2 from uk too.....:-:

Murray Walker and MotoGP winner Bradley Smith to attend 2009 Isle of Man TT
Murray Walker OBE meets fans during the Centenary TT in 2007

Bradley Smith and Murray Walker are the latest stars to confirm they will attend the 2009 Isle of Man TT.

Hot on the heels of his first 125cc victory in Spain, Oxfordshire-based racer Smith has announced he will be at the TT, meaning Valentino Rossi will not be the only MotoGP winner in the Isle of Man during the festival!

Smith, who lies second overall in the 125cc championship after three races, said he will visit the Isle of Man with dad Allan for the Dainese Superbike race on Saturday, June 6.

He will present prizes at the end of the race.

Smith said:

?I?ve always been aware of the TT races from an early age and my dad has frequently talked about the Island?s heritage so I?m really looking forward to watching the event live.?

?I have a huge amount of respect for the road racers and what they do.?

Also confirming he will attend is legendary motorsport commentator Murray Walker OBE, whose father Graham was a TT regular and won the 1931 Lightweight. Murray ? famed for his commentary on Formula One coverage, will watch the Pokerstars Senior TT on June 12, and present the awards afterwards.

Murray, who first commentated on the TT for the BBC in 1949, famously said last year that he felt that the TT was ?the greatest motorsport event in the world?. He also curated the Getty Images Exhibition 100 Years on the Roads.

The Department of Tourism and Leisure has confirmed there are still some hospitality tickets available to purchase for the TT VIP club, which will be visited by Smith, Walker and eight-time MotoGP Champion Rossi during race week.

These tickets will give exclusive access to the races and behind-the-scenes action. The packages, which cost ?218+VAT per guest, offer all-day access to the Hospitality Suite as well as reserved Grandstand seating, access to the TT paddock, exclusive rider appearances, breakfast, lunch, all day refreshments and a gift pack containing official merchandise.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle said:

?I?m delighted to welcome these two great names to the TT races this year.?

?Bradley Smith continues to make his name, whilst Murray Walker is synonymous with motorsport and it?s really fantastic to be able to welcome him back to the Island.?

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi to ride Isle of Man TT course

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi will ride the iconic Isle of Man TT course in June it has been confirmed.

It will be the eight-time MotoGP World Champion?s first visit to the TT and his lap of the Mountain Circuit will bring together two of the biggest names in motorcycle racing.

The 30-year-old will arrive in the Isle of Man on Saturday June 6 with fellow Italian Grand Prix legend Giacomo Agostini, who is no stranger to the TT. Ago race in the Isle of Man from 1966 to 1972, winning 10 TT races when the event held World Championship status.

The pair will lap the 37?-mile course ahead of the Dainese Superbike race. Rossi and Agostini will ride 2009 Yamaha R1s behind the course car, flanked by Travelling Marshals riding similar machines.

Rossi, who has already own 97 GPs in his illustrious career, is excited about his first visit to the TT.

He said:

?I am fascinated by all sort of motorsport and the Isle of Man is a destination and a race I have wanted to experience for a long time.?

?The MotoGP schedule is very busy around this time of year, but this year the TT has moved dates a little and there is a week gap between Mugello and Catalunya, so now at last we have the opportunity to see this famous event!?

?I have seen many famous images from the TT races, and of course heard much about it from Giacomo and Mr Dainese who enjoyed the experience so much last year.?

Dainese renewed its current partnership with the Isle of Man TT races in April and will be the Official Safety Partner for the second successive year. The company's founder and CEO Lino Dainese will accompany Rossi and Agostini on this historic visit.

Mr Dainese added:

?This is the second year of being the Official Safety Partner to the Isle of Man TT Races and is a very big challenge for our company: we want to give a strong signal to our commitment of safety.?

?We continue with our research and development programme of the D-air system, and at the TT Races we will cooperate again with our rider Guy Martin who gave such valuable feedback at last year?s event.?

?Our research will continue also at Grand Prix circuits this year with Valentino Rossi's support too.?

?We are delighted he can be with us at the TT this year to highlight the general commitment of all our pilots, together with D-tec (Dainese Technology Center) to make a step forward in motorbike protection.?

After the Dainese Superbike race there will be a press conference involving Mr Dainese, Agostini and Rossi outlining Dainese?s future commitments to further improving safety for people who love active sports before the VIP group leave to return to Italy.

Rossi?s appearance has been made possible because of his involvement with Dainese. Yamaha and MCN have also been involved in setting up the trip, working with the Isle of Man Government.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle said:

?The TT has a long history with Italy and Italian riders including Carlo Ubbiali, Tarquinio Provini and of course Giacomo Agostini.?

?It is fantastic that another one of the ultimate motorcycling champions will be visiting the Island this year and I?m sure that everyone will give him a fantastic reception along with Giacamo Agostini.?

?We are incredibly grateful to our partners Yamaha and particularly Dainese for making this trip happen. It represents and excellent opportunity to promote the Isle of Man and the TT Races to a global audience.?
