Insurance renewal MCE INSURANCE.

Good morning the dreaded insurance renewal arrived yesterday from MCE, strange thing being no quote... just a load of dross about 15 months for price of 12 etc.

I decided to give them a ring after all the usual sales waffle and being cut off twice I renewed for ?308.. thats a 4 bike policy, protected Max no claims with pillion cover , other bikes not belonging to me third party. The bikes insured being Honda Fireblade 99, Honda Blackbird 98, Honda xr250 96, Yamaha xv535 2000. Helps being a 50ty year old retired fart with no endorsements!!! Brick garage...it goes on....@tu*bl4hbl4h

The company were very pushy this year and claimed prices were going up tonight and the policy may be ?40 more tomorrow. They claimed to be unable to hold the quote figure.
Last year i paid ?307 for 12 months so looking at today's deal it appears on face value to be good... waiting for the small print...
The 15 MONTH cover comes with RAC COVER, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, PERSONAL INJURY, HELMET AND LEATHER COVER AND COURTESY BIKE...

If your times up MCE maybe worth a call 08443386868

Just got mine for £192 with a bit of searching around...and that's with only three years NCB albeit that it doesn't come with all the little extras ( I already pay for them elsewehere). In comparison, Swintons wanted £390 from me for renewing with them this year and that was with a £60 cash back :-0

In the end, it's all a rip off but you've got to look around to get the best you can.

Just did mine with MCE and they wanted over ?500 to renew with the 15 month policy!! I did a quote on their website and just took out a new policy instead for over ?200 less. Also wondered if you would effectively lose out NCD on a 15 month policy as you aren't renewing on a 12 month basis?

Good question. I was offered a 10 month policy with Admiral that would earn another year's NCD (some fast-earn scheme), but it wasn't proportionally cheaper and I imagine in 10 months time they would cost more than anyone else to renew. I turned them down and went for 12 months instead.

Come on you Hatters
Used them in the past, never again. Everything had an extra price, even telling them I was going abroad cost extra. And cancelling the policy after selling the bike not only lost all the remaining value, but they also wanted ?25 to cancel the policy, told them to get stuffed and i'd just let it run out.

Don't get carried away! :-0)

I went around getting quotes knowing I was going to the MCN bike show. MCE had a competitive quote but I knew from 2 years ago that they do good show deals. e.g. add business, pillion etc for free.

This year they shaved ?50 off and halved my excess.

However don't get carried away by this stuff :
RAC COVER, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, PERSONAL INJURY, HELMET AND LEATHER COVER AND COURTESY BIKE...

because :

RAC COVER - recovery to garage is only 10miles,
LEGAL ASSISTANCE - why would you pay for it??
PERSONAL INJURY - max of ?1k
HELMET AND LEATHER COVER - ?350 max and there's an excess to pay
COURTESY BIKE - oh yeah - max of 5 days on a 125

MCE update..

Thanks for all your views. Scotty was bang on the money, just got the small print package re RAC , personal injury etc and its not worth having as most is covered elsewhere. Problem is there is no option to remove and get a cheaper quote. Well the promised emailed paperwork which required my immediate attention turns out to be a link which doesn't work.. The good company which is taking 80% of the bike renewals turns out to be Alpha a company based in Copenhagen cant find them underwritten at Lloyd's. I recall some years ago a insurer going to the wall and Policyholders losing there premiums??

I think the best bit is they couldn't even get my name correct on the documents.
A very strong email of complaint is winging across the Ethernet.

Guess its time to let the fingers do the walking again..

Trouble is there are not so many companies offering four multibike policies out there and they see the xr250 as a very high risk!!!!

XR250 high risk eh? God knows what risk category my KDX200 falls into then as only one company would insure me! Mind you, the thing does fly!

ESURE

eSURE online quote ?350 underwritten by GROUPAMA INSURANCE... however no way of protecting no claims on line .. phone call required ?1.04 per min +network charges + vat!!! think not......internet based so cheap but costs you to call.. no personal touch....
Carole Nash and Bennetts next!!!!

Thats it lost the will!!! robbing barstools!!!!!!!

Well Bennetts panel wouldn't quote ... too many bikes, didn't like the XR250...

ITS NOT THE POWER ITS THE NICKABILITY OF TRIALS BIKES!!! fact they lump them all together as a higher risk?????????/

Carole Nash to the rescue... Modern classic multi bike policy bikes over ten years old... ?270 protected no claims, pillion cover etc... two issues if you get a bike under 10 years old it cant be added to the policy... they require proof of no claims within 7 days and that is relent upon MCE providing said documentation.... feel a big yawn coming on

Interestingly none of today's companies had heard of Alpha insurance....seems only MCE use them??

Checked my new policy through MCE and its underwritten by Qudos Insurance. It appears that MCE policies are sourced from Denmark as both Qudos and Alpha are Danish!

SAGA FINALLY OVER...

Finally got full refund and ?30 payment in way of goodwill gesture for all the problems MCE caused. Eventually got cover with AQUOTE 08003894296. the company are extremely professional and have AVIVA on there panel of insurers.
All in all am a happy bunny saved ?37 on the MCE quote, cut the crap from the policy, avoided the step MCE admendment fees and most importantly brought BRITISH!!!!.
Also the quote always the replacement bike to be under ten years old where the majority of other policies offered the more expensive Over ten year bikes. Therefore if you cahnged to a newer one you had to re-insure it separately with a new policy...
Beware... cant thank Tasha enough at AQUOTES... fingers crossed MCE forward proof of no claims in the required time frame.http://www.bikersoracle.com/blackbird/forum/images/smilies/thumba.gi
