I've had a long chat with 1200Pete today and JAWS [seperately]
Pete's closing down of blackbeardspears is a disappointment to me as in the early days I helped him out with "things webbie" - got his website well ranked in all the search engines - and in return Pete has offered hours of free advice to me - much the same as he's done with a lot of BIRD owners worldwide - I sat back with a glow of satisfaction and watched as his business began to take off
I can recall with a giggle when at the First End of Season Bash, Pete had just launched blackbirdspares business and in his rush to try and get some PR exposure he printed himself and Lenka black T shirts with the new company logo on them. They both wore them with pride!
It wasn't until the end of the weekend when everyone was saying "cheerio - see you next season" that I publicly pointed out to Pete that in his rush to get the t shirts printed .....he'd mis-spelled the company name wrong and all weekend had been wandering about wearing a tshirt that said...
"wwwblackbirdspears.com"
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway back to the plot................
Pete has put in hour after hour of effort - hour after hour of free chat and advice to a hell of a lot of people from this site and elsewhere - but trading conditions remain bloody tough and it's getting more and more difficult to earn a living unless, basically you are prepared to "sacrifice" your entire life to the task

John JAWS is a guy in a similar "vein"
JAWS [as we all know] is always ready with that little bit of "free help" - regardless of whether you want it or not!!
He also gives up his experience and expertise freely to BIRD riders worldwide
If anyone has any problem with the BIRD one of these two guys will ALWAYS help you sort the problem out
Now I know everyone will be saying "That's how they earn their living" which is true BUT sometimes.....just sometimes, I feel it would be nice to do a bit more than just type a post saying "Thanks"
These two guys have had a rough year
What I am proposing is simply this...........
I've setup a PayPal Donation page on the main website and I'm personally asking everyone who has benefitted from either Pete's or JAWS's free advice to reach into their pockets and say thank you with a donation
They will both go nuts when they read this as I am doing this off my own back as a Thank you to both of them - and I've started the donations with a tenner
What I'm aiming for is to raise enough cash to be able for Pete to take Lenka and JAWS to take Maureen out for a Xmas Meal and a bottle of wine compliments of BIRD members and friends
If someone would post this thread on IXXRA and Hyperbikes forums I would appreciate it
All donations will be transfered into my business PayPal account and I will account for every single penny on the BIRD website page.
If, by chance, we end up with more funding than is neccesary the balance will be transferred to the BIRD/CLIC account - and again fully accounted for
This isn't a money making idea - it's quiet simply a way in which we can all say a personal "Thank You" to two huge guys who have given so much
