silly question i know but what is a scottoiler i think i have the jist just not sure of the machanices

BB, a Scottoiler is a little gizmo that automatically oils the chain for you.

A pipe is connected to the inlet manifold on the engine.. as you ride along a vacuum is formed in that pipe which in turn opens a valve in the oiler. Under the valve is a pipe that goes down to the chain.

The amount the valve is opened can be adjusted to control how many drips of oil per minute go on the chain..

A coomonly heard problem or condemnation of the system is ' I would not have one of those,, bloody things dump oil everywhere!'

This is usually said by someone who either had an early one.. or someone who used one without reading the instructions ! ( cos they think it is not needed cos they are so simple.... errr righttt..... )
