Just as a matter of interest.....to me anyway. On purely mechanical terms the more upright a rear shock the more efficient. When you get to 90 degrees to the motion of the rear uspension then they are totally inefficient. Is there something I am missing?

They are designed to work that way?

Knowledge of the principles of leverage?

The shock might look like it is at 90° to the motion, but it is not acting at 90° because of the swing arm mounting point. You do not need a strong spring or a lot of suspension travel to equal that of an upright spring.

Oddly,
I was thinking it is neither one or tother
Mounted flat sure, mounted upright, sure, cut about 30 degrees from flat just seems odd
