Spoke to Brett yesterday and sorry to say Pete is really quite unwell.
He is in a lot of pain as his shoulder has actually parted further.
Brett said he ( Pete ) may well end up having to have a shoulder cast :xm

It sounds as though the other injuries are beahing better and fixing ok.. but the shoulder is causing very real problems..

I am sure you all join me in wishing Pete a speedy and full recovery..

Immediately after the accident, the medical team at Mallory put his arm in a sling (a pretty rough one, mind).

When he went to hospital and had all the checks/x-rays etc, they didn't re-sling it or tell Pete that he needed to keep it in a sling. Consequently, he's not been wearing one which has made his collar bone come out of line at the point of the break so he has a bit sticking up where it shouldn't be :xm They also didn't give him any decent painkillers, told him to get some aspirin.

This is causing a lot of discomfort and it may need to be re-broke and straightened out again. Pete hasn't been in work and hasn't got tinternet at home so hasn't had access to here for a while.

So, basically he's not a happy bunny at the mo and it looks like this could go on for quite a while. He's been hearing many horror stories from peeps who have broken their collar bones before and took a long time to heal properly.

Hmm poor fooker he's gotta get some decent p/killers Russ paracetamol, aspirin etc just ain't strong enough the ones I've been taking are called zydol and are very good these along with ibuprofen take away most of the pain
but still after a month if I try to come off em for more than 12 hrs it still hurts like fook :B
Give him my best and hope he feels a bit better soon :k

Thanks Russ for letting us know

best wishes and a hopefully speedier recovery than what he has had up to now
if he can make it get him to the docs and get some proper painkillers, ibuprofen work well on most serious pain if you knock em back at 600mgs a time every 4 hours but you can get serious opium based ones from the doc..and hello no feking pain atall..had some for a wisdom tooth when the ibuprofen were doing ferk all
only side effects are you do get high..or maybe a plus point and not a side effect:p
just goes to show you track days are dangerious..if pete with his skills can come off anyone can:xm

And how would you know Reefer?
A. How many track days have you done in your life?
B. You weren't even at Mallory last Tuesday, therefore you don't know exactly what happenned do you?
C. The road is far more dangerous than the track. Not just my opinion, but I'm sure Pete, Ben, Cruser, Dave T and anyone who does track days regularly would agree.
D. Do you have any idea how many deaths there were on track days last year? If you can be bothered to find out, just compare it to the number of road deaths.

Ibuprofen

As it happens Ibuprofen isn't a painkiller - it's designed to reduce swelling [so by definition will help ease pain but not stop it]

Russ - tell Pete to take 400mg [max] Ibuprofen AND 500mg Paracetemol TOGETHER to help ease?

Reason I know? Father was one of the original research chemists on the "Ibuprofen Project" back in the late 1960's and a Qualified Pharmacist!!

Ibuprofen paid his salaray for nearly 10 years!! LOL

I won't be drawn into personalising this (the same old) Reefer, as we ALL know where that ends up.
True you were wishing him well (which I'm sure he's really grateful for), but you also stated that track days were dangerous when clearly you have no idea what you're talking about and for once you're right, it's something I know about more than you. As for the other stuff, if ya not interested in it, don't read it Simon. Oh, an chill out dude :-: .

Well, Spain next month mate, then Australia in November. After that who knows. I'd love to do a track day at Assen, but it might have to wait till next year now. I wanted to do the Ring with Russ and Pete this year too, but given Pete's inconsiderate act at Mallory :} , that'll have to go on the back burner now too :B .
Paddy, remembr the IXXRA members we met at Boxhill? :}

What's the ring like to do, difficult? or any special tips?
It's not really that far from me, would love to give it a try, but i think I should get a few more track days in, what do ya think?
cheers for any input DS.

First off a BIG THANK YOU! To all the folk who have offered there sympathies and help, I have been really gobsmacked at the genuine offers of help and support

My one finger typing will keep this post fairly short, but for those who have been asking, here's how it happened $%3un

We had all been happily lapping Mallory for several sessions with no problems, just starting to get to grips with the Devils Elbow and the track surface, which was a tad slippy for some reason, not that this was in anyway to blame for my off.

What was to blame was the numpty who had just moved up from the intermediate group. He was riding a Honda 600 and for anyone who knows the track, I overtook this guy around the outside at the end of Gerard's, then as we came down to Edwina's, he was extremely late on the brakes and came back past me on the outside. I was already hard on the brakes and Mr 600 came straight across the front of me still hard on the brakes, unfortunately he stayed directly in front of me, approximately 10" - 12" from my front wheel.

I am pretty sure this guy was blissfully un aware that I could not stop 230Kg's of Blackbird as quick as he could stop 160Kg's of 600 k1ap I could not let off and go round as he was way too close, so I just kept braking and praying he would let off, he didn't so ultimately the front tyre gave out and I went down. Last thing I remember was seeing his rear tyre about a foot in front of my face.

Apparently I managed to miss the twat altogether, which was a miracle. Next thing I know was talking to Jo in the Medical centre!

Please do not let this 1 in a million incident put you off track days, they will always benefit you more than hurt you.

My status at this time is a little fooked up, I am trying to work but not up to full hours yet. The nice people at the hospital who sent me home with no sling have really caused a few complications, my shoulder has dropped and the bone has become quite mangled, I don't think we will be at the BMF Tail end rally, sorry to anyone that was going to catch up with us there.

As for the bike, not too bad, screen, nose cone, side panel, generator case, rear seat cowl and a handle bar. Will probable be up and running before me

Once again, thanks for all the kind words
