Try
Hotel Formule 1. www.hotelformule1.com
B&B Hotel. www.hotel-bb.com
Village Hotel. www.villages-hotel.com
Nuit. www.nuitdhotel.fr
Hotel Premiere Classe www.premiereclasse.fr (I personally think is the best out of the cheap hotels ''value for money'').
All of the above are normally on the outskirts of towns on retail estates near suppermarkets etc, ideal if you want food and nights kip but not if you want a night out on the town. They all are in ?25-?30 ''ish'' per room price range.

Come on you Hatters
We stayed in the Camponile at Laon on our way home the other week. Not one I'd recommend, No english spoken by any of the staff in the evening, totally miserable waiter, closed the bar at 10, and the main course was crap. 5 of us left most of it, and the waiter totaly ignored our comments on how bad it was.

It was our first time at a Camponile, won't be going again, we all agreed that Etaps are much better value for money, and theres always a half decent cafe or restaurent nearby. The night before we were at the Etap in Freiburg and had an amazing meal in a Pizzeria about a 1mile walk and for less than 100 euros including beer for 6 of us.

This is a nice place to stay too...

We bumped into Lensman and a few others there earlier this year. It looks a little dilapidated but it is very nice inside.

We've just got back from France ourselves. We used a b-b hotel in Rouen, excellent value, air conditioned rooms, good breakfast for 5.5 Euros each. Room was 36Euros per night.Total 47 Euros
Stayed in a Logis de France in Vierzon, which was OK, but at 71Euros, with no aircon and a poor breakfast was a poor second choice.
