And a philosophical debate I have tried to get a little healthier by eating brown bread (warburtons seeded batch yum but ?1.20 a loaf) but here's the thing

Can you make decent toast with brown bread?

And whats best sliced or DIY?

Sorry if this sparks off another what colours best (fastest to cook) war!

You are right Ian, Pikelets as in pikey as her mother is like a smelly pikey....sorry gyppo no offence to you

at least 3 slices a day..
Done one side, about 1/4" butter on half of a slice then folded over..
Only one slice at a time done so butter ( aka margerine or oleo for our yank cousins ) does not melt at all.

Something extra nice about the cold of the butter on the hot of the toast

Toasted fruitbread. yes. And Lurpack.
We have a coal fire in winter, in the front room and Sunday suppertime, out comes the toasting fork. With our 2 lads grown up it's not the same with just Carol and me but I still like burning bread on the fire.
I know what I'm having for supper tonight.
