There was a "hit and run" incident involving a lorry and motorcycle near Ledbury yesterday evening, details are still abit sketchy.
The gloucester to ledbury road was closed off near the M50 junction for about 16 hours whilst police were looking for clues..etc.
I dont know the condition of the rider, word has it he is from Hereford.

I think Orms is working at the moment so he wouldn't have been up that way...

Yes,thats the accident.I just passed the site this evening, when I saw all the flowers on the side of the road I suspected it was fatal.Judging by the skid marks the bike was travelling along the main road when the other vehicule pulled out from the side road,as its the road from the village hopefully it won't be hard to find out who the b@stard is!.
The rider was a 41 year old from hereford.A friend of mine who passed the place minutes after it had happened said the bike was a (matt?) black bike with a fairing.I travel past that spot everyday(10 minutes eariler than when it happened),It might be one of the bikes i regularly pass and wave/nod to every day going in the opposite direction. It certainly makes you think.

Take care out there boys and girls,

Makes you think

Its a bit close to home that one,,,,, hope they catch the twat ,,,,, saw a nasty accident today motorcycle & a pick up on the craven arms Newtown road,, air ambulance was in attendance,, not sure on the riders condition but pray he is Ok. Seems the pick up pulled out on him mid corner on a junction,,,, seems a far to familier story to me. saw the comic this week Carol Nash( did a survey) reckons over 40% of all motorcycle accidents are from cars etc not seeing the bike,, ie pulling out in front of them,,,,, why is it the police want us to believe its nearly always the riders fault :bang: :dunno:

In addition to that there is another major factor at play here.

Image Recognition Sydrome.

I went into it in depth in another thread a little while ago.... but would be willing to explain it again if somebody wanted me to.

A bit more information.
The rider was on a suzuki bandit. The oncoming lorry was on his side of the road so he put the bike in the hedge to avoid it,the lorry didnt stop. The rider was unfortunantly hit by a van when he was recovering his bike from the hedge. The lorry driver was since been found by the police, they are still looking for the van driver.

My heart goes out to the wife and 3 children of the rider.

Update.

I was told at work today, that the police were questioning all the pub landlords in Ledbury. They apparently had a suspect (with green van) who has a dodgy alibi,"at the time he was eating a pub meal, but can't remember which pub".so the police are checking all the pubs for meal serving times..etc.
I was aware that this could of been just local gossip/chinese wispers, but on the way home tonight the police had a road block 1/2 mile from the site and were stopping every vehicule to ask about last week.As I was leaving the road block I said to the police "I hope you catch the b@stard" to which he replied "we have".
So hopefully with the public's help and forensic testing on his van they may well of got him.......now to leave him in a cell with a couple of bikers
