understand from Derby retailers that there are taking "deposits only" for shipments due into them 1st week in December

Be careful of selling for "immediate delivery" cos it may well be old stock!!

Just got back from Town, ........"Game" are now sold out of PS2, not just the new one but the older version as well! - They are taking ?50.00 deposits, to secure one of the next batch.........but could'nt give a delivery date!

It's deliberate and the retailers are aware. They drip feed the retailers to generate deposit fever... Sony do this every Christmas, so it must work!

People will try much harder to buy one sooner, by way of a deposit, if they think there is going to be a shortage!! That's human nature, and the urgency ploy is a successful marketing tactic used by many companies the world over. Anyone here who works in sales will tell you that.

When you think about it can you imagine a giant and expert manufacturer like Sony not being able to make enough units during the previous x months to supply the Christmas demand..? It's one of their major sales periods and they just wouldn't miss the opportunity!
