Help me find a BB

Hello all. Newbie here. Drinks are on me. I'm having a Black Russian, what'll it be?

I've decided to buy a BB, after my R1100S BMW was stolen in November.

Test rode a Ducati ST3 at P and H Motorcycles in Crawley on Saturday, and sort of liked it . . . then spied a 2000 red BB all prepped for a Fast Bikes test this week waiting in the show room. Dealer let me out on it without a fuss, and boy oh boy was I impressed. Blew the Duke into the bullrushes.

However, my requirements are somewhat specific . . .

I spoke to Carole Nash, and it seems the insurance sky rockets for me from a 2002 model onwards. However, I would like the newer model with the digi clocks and bigger screen etc. My insurance pay out is ?5,150.

So, I am after a late 2001, with under 10K on the clock, in red or black. Don't like blue. Am I right in understanding that the newer model came out in 2001, and that I could get a "51" plate of the newer bike?

I have been checking a few Honda sites, and looking on Auto Trader but with no luck so far.

Anyone know where I might be able to find the right bike? Which are the best places to buy?

I am in West Sussex BTW.

Also - quite encouraged to see such a good owner's site. Always a big bonus.

I tried Honda insurance today on your recommendation, but the best they could do was more than ?500 more than Carole Nash managed.

CN managed to find someone who will cover me TPFT for ?407 on a 2001 BB with a Cat 1 alarm. If I wait until after Feb 12, when I turn 30, it may be ?30 of ?40 odd pounds cheaper.

Bizarrely, this underwriter will not insure me on anything younger, and so for a 2002 bike Zenith was the best at about ?780.

Honda insurnace struggled to nip under ?1K.

I think the reason is that I had my car stolen a few days under three years ago, and the underwriter CN found only counts thefts if they are in the last three years. The quote I got was for a date after the three year threshold. Honda Insurance keeps them on there for 5 years.

As I had my last bike nicked in Nov last year, I have two thefts on my record, which pretty much rules out reasonable quotes.

In my view insurers should not be allowed to discriminate against you for having your vehicles stolen. It is manifestly unjust. I thought insurance was a "risk" business. Apparently not.

Nah! Insurance is a licence to print money, an absolute scandal, and you wonder why so many youngsters run around uninsured, try gettin' a quote for an 18 year old to drive a tatty ford fiesta, price my mates son was quoted was 4 times the value of the car! c7u8
