My 17 (18 next month) yr old is trying to insure his first car, he's done his Pass +, the best quote up to now is ?1298 TP,F & T with Direct Line for a Peogeot 206, 1.1 L.
Anyone had experience of insuring a youngster lately and got a good price ???

Try the Post Office

I don't know what they are like with youngsters but I saved ?90 on my insurance this year.

It's a freephone number but you need the promotional codes from the local PO.

Sex change

Only way round it is a sex change I am afraid, insured my daughter last year (17) for ?780 and when I spluttered at that the bloke at the other end of the phone said "That's nothing mate, if she were a boy it would be double that"
renewed this year for ?619.
Only problem is No 2 is 17 in a couple of months so it's double up for me anyway :B

good looking AND modest
if you want to drop the insurance quote for a young un, just put an "oldie" on the premium as a "named" driver, you will be amazed at the difference it makes, AND it's entirely legal,

Best Quote..........

We have had for our Daughter was from `Tesco.com.` She has been with them for the last three years and no one has beaten them yet.

We noticed when we did the internet quote thing that if you enter `male` as opposed to `female` the quotes were usually far greater.

Looking on the bright side the premium reduces significantly after the first and second claim free years !!!

When my youngest passed her test at 17 she bought a citroen AX the insurance was about ?384, my eldest daughter passed just before her and was 19 she had a fiat cinquecento the insurance was ?650 when we enquired as to why the big difference (in the same company) we were told that it's because the fiat was a foreign car so what does that make citroen?

the reason why the citroen ax is so cheap to insure is they are so light they wont cause any damage if you hit someone(the ax will be a write off) and who would want to nick them:lol: ,i would personaly never buy another french car,i work in the motor trade and used to work for a body shop! they are a pain in the ass to repair, and get parts for them, try your local renault dealer:cry: .

as to car insurance i found that an old car costs more to insure than a newer car like a corsa, insurance companys think if you drive an old banger you are more likely to run away if you have an accident, most fords are also classed as a high risk cos they are easy to nick:violin:
