I fancy fitting a set of Heli Bars, but can I get them from anywhere in the UK, or do I have to order them from the States, if so where from and how much?!!

Safe riding with no back ache!

Hi Dave & Petal

Can only be got direct from the States. I doubt that I can find the invoice for mine to give you an exact quote, but visit their web site at http://www.helibars.com/honda.html

Somewhere on the site you can find prices. I think I paid about ?150 equivalent. On the plus side, they arrived within four days.

You need to remove one of the hydraulic hose locating tags, on the grip assembly, so a dremel tool comes in handy. Otherwise, they're a doddle to fit.

I've just looked it up for you and they're currently quoted at $239. Don't know what the exchange rate is, you'll have to do the sums yourself on that one:B

Cheers Clive, for the info, I have emailed them, did you have to ring them to order? And do they make much difference to standard bars?

Cheers

If I remember rightly....

... I phoned them and spoke with a very nice young lady who was really helpful. I paid by credit card.

Yes, they do work really well. They only effect the position by an inch or so, up and towards you, but it makes all the difference. I'm 5'8" to give you an idea of comparison for yourself. They upped the distance to aches from 50 miles or so to 200+ miles. Then I got my Corbin seat, and I now never get any such aches.

Heli's are pretty expensive, but I think they're worth it if you can afford it. They're also very well made and look pretty good.

Hi Dave,

Just wanted to suggest that you look into stock 2002 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor bars. The general concensus is that they are higher quality, look dead stock, and have an excellent position. They will bolt right on to the XX. Both options will require as a minimum mods or extended clutch hose, possibly brake hose as well.

Good luck!

you can get then in the UK as I was thinking of getting some for me Ducati. They were from a small firm in Nottingham I will see if I can find the phone number.

Heli Bars??

Helibars look like cheap welded aftermarket pretend stuff!!
As was said DON'T pay the price and instead buy the 2002 VFR stock bars from Honda. They are less money and look the dog's dangles. No welds to look at and do the same thing.I can get you a used set of heli bars from a friend for $100. used cause he went to stock VFR bars too. I am lookin for a used set of VFR ones myself since I am very cheap at heart and was quoted $180.
to buy then new.
Will prolly have to fork out the dosh soon cause I want some real bad.

Cheers Guys!

Cheers Guys I shall check out the VFR Bars, and if I get no joy, will probably have to plump for Heli Bars cos I need em for beginning of September for planned European Trip, France, Switzerland and Italy, so could be knocking up some miles and want them as pain free as poss!! Its just this getting old shit!

Clive, you cant post two pics, think yourself lucky I cant post any, they either disappear into the ether, or appear all under exposed and generally fucked up, in fact I am going to try again!

Cheers Guys

Are ya posting 'em as JPEG?

You haven't got some funny camera format have you? Can you open them in MicroSoft Phot Editor, or the like? Although my camera uses JPEG or TIFF as it's native format, some cameras have their own, and they have to be converted.:t

sorry to tell you dave but your picture came out rubbish again. I have seen the original and it don't look like that. Do you realise you taught me to ride nearly 5 years ago mate.

My 2 cents worth. I have Heli Bars on my Bird since new, '02, and have no issues with appearance or application. They did take the weight off of my wrists. I did ride for 1000 + kms before I installed them. However, that being said I wasn't on any Bird sites and was not aware of the VFR bar swap. What I'm looking for now is Braided hoses.

John, are these a set for the Bird or do they have to be manipulated? What's included in the set? Cheers
