Heated Grips vs Heated Inner Gloves?

I have a set of old heated inner gloves which I'm getting sorted to use on the 'bird for this winter.

When I used these in the past I found they provided enough warmth to kkep the old dainty fingers nice and cozy.

But.... in the intervening years I've noticed everyone using these new fangled heated grips things.

I'm a bit puzzled (not unusual really!) as I'd have thought it must be a bit innefficient to go heating the whole world to get some heat through a set of waterproof gloves to ge the fingers warm.

So does anyone else have the heated inner gloves and why do folks prefer the heated grips to the inner gloves??

Thinking logically you really want the most heat on the back of the hand as that is the area out in the wind blast. The only draw back is that you are attached by cable to the bike...

Me Ive opted for heated grips

Heated Grips

Probably all in the mind but when your palms are warm, you feel warm all over
and that keeps you relaxed

The ones I've got never seem to get Red Hot - just warm enough to do the job

Not just for winter though - also applies to wet gloves

Not sure about Latex gloves though :} :} :}

Back of the hand is exactly where the heated inner gloves put it!

yep the wire is the only thing to watch but it's no more than having a radio etc connected.

I'm pondering getting a newer set of heated inner gloves (mine are over 20yrs old now) at the NEC this year.

I've had heated grips on current and last few bikes. Downside is that although palms can be burning, thumbs which are stuck in the wind blast, can be bloody cold.

I usually find that a nice bowl of steaming hot porridge before I set off on a journey, is sufficient to keep me warm, thus doing away with the need for heated inner gloves or grips.

YES they are worth the investment. Mine cost me ?25 from Hein Gericke in Germany and on the 'start' setting they give you medium rare fingers.

Heated grips do work well, I have the motrax ones from Jaws, and keep your hands lovely and warm although the backs of your hands can still be a bit cool on the coldest days. The plus side to grips is that your not having to connect up any cables and on a lot of days you can get away wearing your summer gloves rather than big thick winter ones.
This leads me to the next point. My wife uses a pair of Klan inner gloves which work very well also, but the fafing about with the wire can be a right pain at times, and another slight problem she has come across is that she needs slightly bigger outer gloves to go over them, so she's ended up with an extra pair of summer gloves to go over them for autumn and spring.

Stu, good point 'bout the outer gloves.

As I've got five various pairs of outer gloves it's not particularly a problem for me. Don't why it is but I seem to collect 'em. Well if women can collect shoes I can collect gloves...... so there !

Heated grips? Heated inner gloves? Pah!

If its artificial heat then the best is a heated waistcoat. I have a Klan one, and its the Ds Bs. It keeps your hands and toes warm by keeping your core temperature high. Works in all but the worst winter mornings. I use "normal" winter gloves tho'.

the webbed skin between your thumb and fingers is not transferring the heat :}

I sat next to 'im when we had our evening meal when we went up for the RSID and I can definitely vouch that his thumbs were the right way round.
