I’m not sure there’s a whole lot worse than losing a pet, especially a pup of 12 years. As said above, know that you did right by him and remember the good times, of which there would’ve been many.
It’s always tough but it’s always the right thing.
still miss him meowing to come in while balancing precariously on the window sill and still expect him to jump on my lap every time I sir down....but the sadness has turned to smiles at happy memories now.
