At a risk of offending peeps whose posts I relish for their humour and content and who have been on here a lot longer than I have, I must ask if it is fair to hog the bandwidth to the detriment of the rest of us by having huge signatures which are funny the first few times but after that are just taking up space? If you look in the user control panel and go down to thread display options there is an option to not show avatars or people's sigs etc..........

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

"You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts"

Hmmm !! how about Sam or someone giving a few lessons in using the site options then?? :dunno: I am happy to admit computer ignorance and in the same breath ask for guidance, I for one dont give a monkeys about Pierres "signature" cos thats who you all ment and would like to post/alter my own, so rather than beat about the bush, would someone like to start a NEW thread to enable us "ignorant" people to alter our post options, after all we do have a "test" facility, :h

Go into the User CP (top left), then take a look at 'edit options' in the left hand column, from their follow your nose, it's pretty much self explanatory.

Ian - I aint a natural computer person either and I don't know all of it by any means but the easiest way to learn what the options are is to just click the buttons and see what happens. I've always done it like that (on the forum, in Word, Excel, PP, photo progs etc), and I've found it the best way to remember as it's something you have done yerself and not what someone has told you to do.

I do ask computer questions on here of course, but 99% of the time I just experiment.

me as well most of the time Robb, but I'm not adverse to admiting some things dont do what I want and I get a "little" irritated so if in doubt ask!!, incidentally I've feked Pierres signature right off, just by doing what Sam suggested and went to the bottom option and un ticked the signatures box! something I would have tried sooner or later anyway but his advice cut a load of pissing about out!! :bow:

Maybe I'm wrong but....

Surely my turning off their signatures doesn't alter the amount of bandwidth they are hogging and I enjoy seeing these signatures the first few times but they do get a pain after that and if I turned them off I would not see them at all. Surely it is not too much to ask peeps to reduce the signatures after most peeps have seen them. Wolfie and Pierre what do you think?

but i dont think that the little bit of sig bandwidth is nothing compared to the amount of total and pure shit that some people post on here. I mean some peoples post are so full of crap that they are on ignore by me, but i have to then bring then back to see what everybody else is going on about. :bang: :bang:
