Just noticed that my fuse box cover is in French yet the bike was first registered new in the UK in April 2002 (although the frame rail colour code sticker under the seat says CBR1100XX-1).

Does this mean that it's a french grey import and if so will it be restricted to 100HP? :dunno:

As I've been riding a Ducati 750SS for the last few years top end rush has never been relevant so I've got nothing to compare it with.
The cans are standard Honda E marked and look to be the originals.

The bike was originally supplied by a dealer called C G Chell Motorcycles in Stafford. Haven't had any luck contacting them.

ask it for a fight, if it gives up straight away, it's French

is it shorter than other birds? it's French

is its nose bigger than usual? it's French

hope this helps.

seriously? I'm guessing there are other ways of finding out which are more scientific, and someone will be along soon with this advice. I wouldn't get too worried about a French fuse box cover, could have been picked up anywhere. There must be some 'obvious' differences on parallel imports which someone can advise on :dunno:

The chain adjustment sticker is in froganese too...
Never noticed this before.....

I suppose the smell of garlic and it's nervous twitch when parked next to beemers should've been a giveaway......c7u8

If it struggles to get past 140mph it might be restricted or possibly red....On a serious note my SV had about 105 bhp at the wheel and would romp up to a ton forty pretty quickly then you had to wait for the extra miles an hour your bird should piss past this figure with ease, find a nice bit of straight road and give it some that should answer your question..@tu*

Check your mirrors first then go for it the bike will do 0-130+ in about 11 secs so 70mph to 160+ only takes about 15 odd go for it you know you want to....

Having had my licence back from the cleaners a year ago I quite like it that way and with our local plod's unmarked cars getting regular outings up and down the M27/A27 of late I might have to book Southampton airport for a morning...or get it dyno'd. sh1tehppns

We've got loads of roads you can use. What someone I know very well does is to ride a nice section one way to ensure it is clear and then turn round and nail it back the other way!:-0)

Clueless in most things
Isn't there something on the logbook that shows if it's an import, something like registered by owner rather than a manufacturer? Would an hpi check clear this up?

I'm also pretty sure that your insurance company who have direct access to the hpi register will know if it's an import or not so a call to them might help

I just love the way that you are being encouraged to try a high speed run.

I am sure the 'encouragers' will serve the jail sentence for you.@tu*

This site helps you to decipher each section of your vin number

http://www.weeksmotorcycle.com/honda-vin.html

Might only show that it was made in Japan, although it does show some letters for spain and belgium etc. Does the exhaust note have a french twang with it :-0)

Log book says it was first registered new in the UK. Warranty booklet says that it is (was) covered by Honda UK. Still doesn't explain the French alnguage bits on the bike.... :dunno:

You can try here - http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/honda.asp

Says it doesn't have an exact match for the VIN but that it's a 2001 Honda built in Japan.

They might tell you what you have

From this site I now it was built in the Saitama, Japan plant and that it's a CBR 1100 XXV Super Blackbird.....

Only guitars and suspender belts have a twang (french or otherwise)..:-0)

I may be forced to go on to IXXRA......

Is yours a cat 2001 or a non cat model, if its a non cat it could have been manufactured just pre the cat model, thereby they ran out of fuse box stickers and as it was a European model used the next best sticker they had. I'm assuming the cat model has a different fuse box layout. If it was French the speedo would have been in KPH.
OR; it may have been a cancelled french batch and ended up coming to the uk..

Wild guess only.

The exhaust stamping says "HM MAT D5 HONDA e13"....after trawling the net for clues it seems that this is a CAT model exhaust.

If it was French the speedo would have been in KPH.

Speedo, mileage and trip are all in mph. Presumably this can't be altered to/from kph...?

Out of curiosity does anyone know if this is a standard revcounter backplate? :dunno:
