have a thought for those in Florida

I have been trying to contact Florida John all week with no success..
I have had a mail from the company he works for ( Sonny's ) saying 'We have survived the hurricane but all our fone lines and normal interent access is down, which means they musta been hit REAL hard...

If anyone knows how bad Ft Lauderdale copt it I would appreciate an update..
I really am very concerned for all the folks there but esp. John and our other Florida based members.

Fort Lauderdale update

If you live in Fort Lauderdale, you will be able to drop-off hurricane debris starting today at Florence C. Hardy Park, located at 25 S.W. 9th Street.

The location is open to city residents only from 8:00 a.m. ? 4:00 p.m., seven days a week. Proof of residency in Fort Lauderdale will be required.

Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale beach remains closed until further notice. Access to the beach remains restricted to people who live along the beach or their relatives and emergency and utility crews. City police specifically say that no sightseers or tourists will be allowed beyond the access bridges.

I am fine just major inconvienienced. No power and got water back yesterday but we are suppose to boil it without power

I have plenty of water and ice and my neighbors and I cook out each night over a makeshift fire pit we put together from pavers and burning oak branches that blew down !! At least it is cool out.
I hope to have power back by Monday.

My sister lives about 6 miles away and her power is back on so here I am at her computor checking in. Taking a shower here nightly and bringing a generator home tonight to see if I can get the internet up and running at home. Crossing my fingers that the phone line still works.

Thanks for the concern but all is well now in Fort Liquordale. I still have some Makers Mark left yet !

Yup.. great news ! I had a mail from John when I got home tonight.. he has plotted up at his sisters place as he still has no power at home ( and no trees left either by all accounts ! )
