hi there

im travelling from ireland to london to meet up with a friend and then heading to the harz region in germany in around 5 weeks, i know were im going (thank god for satnav) but i dont want to miss out on the best roads either on route or while in the harz. so was wondering has anyone travelled to this location and did they find any hidden delights or suggestions on areas within the harz that are a must see.
many thanks..

Been there, and had one

Stealthrider & I have done this reagion a few times... Wonderful roads, beautiful scenery

You will be tempted by the hotel Harmonie in Bad Grund, but the last time we went it was a touch er, grubby, I think would be a good description, and needed a bit of "maintenance". We preferred staying at the hotel Bellevue. It is a 200 year old "dracula style" building. The owners speak perfect english. It is clean, friendly, has its own bar in the cellar, and the food is excellent. Only 100 yards down the road is a fabulous restaurant with a beautiful carved wooden ceiling, and great food at good prices...

As for roads. All the roads around the region are billiard table smooth, and drivers are courteous, and friendly.

You must take in Wernigerode & Quedlingberg, as they are two of the most wonderful places to visit (like being in Chitty chitty bang bang).

Jan & I are heading out there again in 2012. So dont break it...LOL

Safe journey,

Rolfy & Jan

ps... I know it sounds boring... But... Visit the clock museum in Bad Grund... Its a LOT more interesting than it sounds...
