popped along this morning for a few bits..also went a few months ago
if you have never been..GO
they dont look down on you or turn there noses away!..staff, doormen, secuirty are all very helpfull, polite and bend over backwards to help you
really is worth a day there if your down in london..takes a day to get round the gaff..its like a big shopping centre but all on diffrent floors
yes its ferking expencive there but dont do your weeks shopping or but a 4 poster bed and it aint too bad
deli counters and food halls have to be seen to be beleaved..range is out of this world and fruits etc are massive and perfect..no sorting through to find unbrused fruit..there all un bruised lol
dont tip the doormen but do tip the staff in the luxury washrooms (reads shitter)
dont go in there hunrgy either as they have about 15 diffrent places to eat ranging from sushi to burgers to ala carte, burger will set you back about 8 quid, buffet lunch to the tune of someone playing the piano will set you back ?40 and pot of tea and scones a mere ?7.50
no shell suits, trainers or jeans as you wont get past the front door(that counts out 50% of mincers then)
so do go! spend the day, have a LIGHT lunch and plan to spend a couple of hundred quid on a few nick nacks and some strange and unusual bits of grub from the deli..you will enjoy the whole experience :yo:

How odd....
Although not a regular shopper there myself any more, most of the family have an account and if I do go into town with them we are always all in jeans.. never had a problem at all..

Way better than Tescos anyways folks ! LOL !!

Do they take local authority vouchers yet?

I got turned away many years ago, I was carrying a new skid lid... and IT WAS STILL IN THE BOX !!! ( Must admit, it wasn't wrapped up tho )

They must have got sloppy.

good looking AND modest
in the smoke to judge a good/clean "restaurant/hotel" have a wander around the back to the kitchens/delivery areas, you will get an idea what "some" of these "posh" :rolleyes: places are really like, :puke: I used to work in both the Savoy and Simpson's, both had mouse problems when I worked there, :lick: no it weren't me!! the buggers used to come up though the sewers from the Thames, these older buildings have always "got the mice men" in,!! and that will include Harrods,!! wonder if Jaws tried there for his telly?? :rolleyes: :}

missing the point!!!

its not about trying the food..not at those prices anyway
its about the whole experience of visiting the gaff and buying the little nick nacks and trying food from the deli that looks almost too good to eat..and the fresh meat counter where the t-bones look like they should be framed not eaten
well i went under protest thinking waste of time and money etc but throughly enjoyed the whole day and had a good half hour chinwag with one of the doormen too
even if your just passing and need to 2 "top up" your aftershave..just pop in the shitter..sorry i mean "luxury wash room" and squirt away with what ever pongy stuff you like FOC
but having said that..mixed sarnie and a cuppa for ?7.50 and boy can you string it out..some peeps had even taken there kids in there and were coughing up like ?150 for bit of salad and ice cream for the kids
ice creams did look good tho but so does a gallon of italian ice cream for the same price as one of theres at the local marine ices :t
and when you see the pretty glass arty farty bits on the tables (as i did) and think well if its ?50 id buy that and as you approach the unguarded piece just resting on the table and spot the tiny tag @ ?4k  you have the feeling of being in a minefield and slowly start edgeing away from the piece so as not to trip up or anything :h

all im saying is if your passing its worth a look but you will need a good few hours to scout about..try and resist the freshly made choc areas if possible
and dont buy the popcorn in boxes as they sell the same stuff in safeways..half the price
