Try Living Social - we have had getting on for 20 good short breaks plus a load of meals through them.

Suppose it depends what you are looking for whether any of these sites are any good. I don’t want a crappy cheeseboard and knife set, or even an online project management course - more than happpy to have short city/hotel breaks at short notice or a nice meal out for very few £s though.

Why the hell would I be interested in short hotel breaks ?
Alright if your a bit poofy I spose or you are a bit hard up, but I have my hotel with me wherever I go, sleep in my own bet, use my toilet, and have second to none waitress service

I've used Groupon twice for Aircon recharge (two different cars) & under £35 both times. Couldn't find it cheaper.

I admit, the thousands of e-mails are s pain but I've got a junk e-mail address I use specific for this sort of stuff. I only look at Groupon if I'm after something specific.

In that case I assume it is you that buys the crappy cheeseboard and knife set and the online project management course if you don't buy short breaks and meal deals.

Each to their own.

Ps forgive me for expressing an opinion......

Nope.... I have NEVER got anything via groupon !
As said, every time I have bothered to check the 'offer' is always more than even the local shops ask
I did look at getting a patio awning a few days ago but found their 'special offer' was more than a £100 normal retail !

It pays to do your research when shopping on-line.

I'm sure a lot of these selling sites work on the basis that the customer assumes they're getting a good deal because of the advertising, i.e. words like 'Sale' and 'Discount'. Bit like Tesco offering a box of 6 ice creams for 50p off the £4.00 retail price when you can buy two boxes of 3 for £1.49 each.

eBay is just as bad. the number of times I've looked for parts for my car or bike & ended up going to the local dealer as it's cheaper is anyone's guess, especially for the Merc.

That's regular in our Dunnes Stores.
Tub of butter €6 500. 250 for €2.50
So I buy the two which is probably the trick to move stock!!

This was in the news yesterday (or this morning, can't remember); major supermarkets dressing up multi-buys at a discount price when a collective of the individual items are cheaper.
