There’s that scrawny scandy bird that could do with a job after schooltime - Gritter Thunberg

If there’s any truth in that, that’s me buggered. I’ll never get down the mountain (or back up it). Time to start looking for that Panda 4x4 that I’ve been banging on about.

Joking aside, gritters are employed by the council, they will have their own drivers so I don’t think there’ll be a problem, unless they’ve got rid of their gritters & contract out.

The gritter lorries were out here about a month ago. Apparently they do a dry run of the whole area with all the trucks to make sure everything is accessible and to know their routes. Whether the will be any grit when we actually need it is another thing of course. I bet right now there’s a panic buyer grabbing as much grit as they can because someone somewhere told them there will be a shortage.
I’m ok though, plenty of rolls of sandpaper in my workshop, I’ll just glue some to my tyres. It’ll work trust me!!!

There were a few moaners when this happened saying the drivers should be driving the fuel trucks etc etc and of course the usual ‘we pay our council tax for empty lorries to be driving around, why aren’t they emptying my bins’. It’s usually the people that get away with not paying their council tax that do most of the complaining.

One summer I once overtook a gritter on the A1 just before Scotch Corner. It was a hot sunny day and it was spreading something, don't know what but it made a mess of the bike and my left leg. I'm assuming it was a dressing if the roads too hot and tar starts to get too soft.

What's a gritter :nusenuse: we never seem to have our roads gritted, I did get over taken in Death Valley, it must be where they have gone too
