Like others bmw have damaged their brand by expanding their product range toward the lower end of the market - the 1. & 2 Series seem to be the weapon of choice for many who have company cars that would previously have been in Astra/Focus type of stuff. Not helped by manaufacturing being undertaken In cheaper locations than Bavaria - my experience in loan cars from BMW is that there is a massive difference in quality.Seems to be a lot of BM bashing on here of late. Jealousy is a terrible, terrible thing
Not exactly relevant to the UK market, either.
Yes I'm sure that hilarious folding tow bar added thousands to the value.Like others bmw have damaged their brand by expanding their product range toward the lower end of the market - the 1. & 2 Series seem to be the weapon of choice for many who have company cars that would previously have been in Astra/Focus type of stuff. Either way, as you say, jealousy is a marvellous guide to what is coveted.....
As an aside, I was pleasantly surprised at the trade in deal I have been offered by BMW.......mind you, mine is immaculate 15k mikes with pretty much every option.
I have just priced up a part ex for my BMW for a new one and it was noticeable how much stuff has moved from being included in what are generally quite good value packages of extras. Electric memory seats were included in the Comfort package when I got the current car, almost a grand extra now on top of the Comfort package.Looks like I'm moving away from BMW. As much as I like my 5 series I'm going to look at a Volvo V70 which is currently ticking my boxes (although it is a hybrid)
BMW's are just getting a little pricey for what you get and the Volvo looks a much better prospect, and it's FAST!!
That will be why they are happy then.I have just priced up a part ex for my BMW for a new one and it was noticeable how much stuff has moved from being included in what are generally quite good value packages of extras. The S80 Volvo I had is one of the best cars I owned...but it was made when Volvo were Volvo rather than a subsidiary of a big company, wonder if the build quality has been maintained? My neighbours have two big volvos and they seem happy enough...even though they are diesels......
I 'paid' £850 for my memory seats and a further £250 or so for the electric lumbar support!I have just priced up a part ex for my BMW for a new one and it was noticeable how much stuff has moved from being included in what are generally quite good value packages of extras. I would imagine they're getting pricey as a measure to keep the steak and kidney lock openers out of them. If I had my way, there would be a post code check before being allowed to buy a BM.Looks like I'm moving away from BMW. Chap I knew sold his 325 back in the mid-nineties as both he and I emigrated to South Africa. The company we worked for told us that locally-built BMs were cheaper in SA. Um, no, they weren't and the build quality was shite.Like others bmw have damaged their brand by expanding their product range toward the lower end of the market - the 1. & 2 Series seem to be the weapon of choice for many who have company cars that would previously have been in Astra/Focus type of stuff. Why do people assume that because someone slates something then they are jealous?Seems to be a lot of BM bashing on here of late. Jealousy is a terrible, terrible thing

Why do people assume that because someone slates something then they are jealous?
For the record I have had many chances to buy a BMW, or a Merc, or a Jaguar, even looked at a Porsche, the plain truth is there is absolutely nothing of any of those marques that convinced me that they are worth the money or that they can do the job any better than any other car.
Why do people assume that because someone slates something then they are jealous?
Because such people are deep down jealous of those who think they don't need a penis extension or materialistic things to make them happy.
Sad and pathetic.Corrected for you.
You just wouldn't spend the money because you're a Yorkshireman. Fact! Why do people assume that because someone slates something then they are jealous?

Conversely, I have better things to do than go hating on other people's things, apart from red 'Birds because they're gay (Fact!) and the Nissan Squashsquatch because they're driven by twats (Fact!)Because such people are deep down jealous of those who don't need a penis extension or materialistic things to make them happy.
