I have decided to leave the forum indefifinately. Mainly because the minority have yet again influenced
the majority. A very real global problem unfortunately.
I'm a firm believer of 'freedom of speech' & if that individual interperats or translates the wording as offensive?
Then they have assumed wrongly on their part.
Some people on here have a habit of
jumping in before thinking about what their heroic actions means to others.

I urge you to step back and have a think .. It is one word.. a word that has never been allowed since BIRD and indeed IXXRA started some 24 years ago

I understand your stance, but you well know my stance on WOKISM, snowflakes etc etc so should realise this was never something that was done lightly
It was primarily done for the ladies on here who, in general, do find the word grossly offensive

The poll shows that the overwhelming majority voted to keep it banned, so to say that "the minority have yet again influenced the majority" is clearly ignoring the poll results.
If you're referring to Beaker's actions then he was just implimenting forum rules as per his role as an admin.

On a personal note, I would hate to see you leave the forum as, I for one, would miss your contribution and banter on here.

Something to think about before you pull the plug... As Jaws said, allowing it's use would adversely affect the forum's listing on the net. That will make it harder and harder for prospective members finding and hopefully joining it. That would ultimately lead to the forum withering and dying... who wants that..?

There will no doubt follow an element of piss-taking for this thread, however, I’d like to suggest you calm down, get a good night’s (albeit restless) sleep on what’s happened today, and then awake suitably refreshed tomorrow.

It’s a word that is rather frowned upon in all elements of society, unless it’s being used to cause distress, but it’s only a word. You haven’t been threatened, you’re not worried about your self, or your family, and you are no doubt feeling pissed off with anyone and everyone.

I would urge you to step back mate and take a deep breath, we’d all be sorry to see you go, we all live under rules we might not agree with but we do it out of wanting to live harmoniously with others and hopefully them with us, besides, who else has a jacket we can take so much piss out of, and as an aside your banter, logic and contributions would be sorely missed as well.

I completely agree with the principle of free speech but surely it has to be exercised with propriety and good grace, because as Jeffa stated if you or any of us wouldn’t use it in front of loved ones or respected company the one question to ask yourself is why not? I think you know why, it seems to be a word that retains a certain taboo in society, I don’t know why it has acquired this status because as you say it’s part of the documented English language .

The boundaries of free speech in my opinion are not to be defined by the limits of people being offended but should be exercised with knowledge that there are consequences to exercising it without due consideration to others. This should remain a decision not implemented by written rules (I didn’t know about the influence on the web page and don’t necessarily agree with it but the world ain’t perfect and we all gotta live in it) but by the standards each individual sets for themselves.
