giving bikers a bad name

On Saturday I went to Brands. The first trip there with my bike so I was kinda looking forward to it.

Now all you guys know how much effort went into my bike. I know its not everyones cup of tea.....but its mine. I spent quite alot of money and time personalising things to make it original, unlike any other NTV out there.

We had a good day at Brands, although it was wet. We had parked with all the other bikes close to the entrance on a narrow path, I wish Brands would get their acts together on this one. So we had the Bird and my bike chained together and we are totally surrounded with really really smart sports bikes, R1s etc etc, you can see the picture. My bike looked kindof boring, but I don't care.

So we returned to the bikes, all okay, still standing no problem. Except...............some bastard had nicked my tyreflies. I couldn't belive it. I know that many of you think they are crap and you wouldn't be see dead with them, or you may think, Oh well good riddance to bad rubbish..............BUT............they were part of my bike! Its not the money that pisses me off its the fact that someone has had the audacity to take them.

Yes, okay it might not have been a biker, but on the other hand the chances are high it was.

Rot in hell mate. Hope the batteries run out soon. :B

Yep - that would get my goat too BIF..........especially as it's the last place you'd expect bikers to steal from one another...........presuming it was another biker...........

Are you sure that they were still in place when you left the bike?

Reason I ask is that a mate of mine had some that just flew off of his Gixer750 in France last year.................mind you he was pulling 160mph in places..........

So what racing was on? How was the NTV on it's maiden visit to West Kingsdown?

Samster.........no way was I that fast!!!!! Yes, they were both there. If one had been missing then I would have said the other had come off accidentally, But both were gone. I have always checked them for tightness and also since I check my tyre pressures each week. I haven't been out on the bike since the weekend previously so there really was no time for them to come off.

I agree it may not have been a biker, but what amazes me is that folk had their helmets just strapped to their bikes with poly bags over them. None of them had gone. Maybe I should run an electric current through them when I park the bike!!! No, next time I shall take them off.

The bike handled great. Just love riding it. Bit windy though and she does tend to weave abit when it gusts. Now I am faster though, the vibrations are more!!! I managed to overtake Derek on the Bird going up the hill towards the roundabout before brands!!!!! I raised a fist as I sailed by!!! Sadly he got me about 2 secs later.............there was this sort of titanium blur!!!!!!!

The racing was the MCN ?1 day. Lots of bikes, 125s MZs, biggies a;nd sidecars too. Supersports er........lots more! Good racing but sadly one fatality. Not often it happens, and thats the risk of the game, but its still sad.

Loads of people there, but only the Brands shops were open, no stalls, or anything! Useless bikeparking as per usual. Quite disgusting really.

Where's the honour gone ?

There are bikers & motorcyclists - some are happy go lucky humans & there are some who've served a short holiday at her majestys pleasure.
You can go to a bike show and have a laugh and a beer with a complete stranger who for all you know,could be an axe murderer,but as bike riders,all that doesn't matter cos at a "bike do" you are all just havin' a laugh and soaking up the buzz of the whole bike thang.

And no matter who you are or what you've done-the number one rule, in my book(and I thought was universal),is NEVER F%CK WITH ANOTHER PERSONS BIKE

Similar happened to me...

...last year at the Brands WSB! Couldn't believe it - had two lids not very well secured and some f***er nicked my anodised valve caps.

Again it's not the money, just the shear frustration that our fellow humans can be such twats at times.

My view is that it's been that way for some time mate and I'm not wishing to aportion blame, but I think the whole biking culture changed with the advent of the Born Agains, weekend warriors, executive hog riders, etc, etc.....:B

20 years ago you wouldn't have looked at someones bike in the wrong way, never mind knick things off it (oops, sound like me dad now ).

BIF, sorry this had to happen to you of all peeps and you know that any piss takin of ya bike is only in jest.

Jan & I happen to be "born again bikers ", and we dont go around taking bits off anything, that dont belong to us...

The only reason we didnt have a bike for many years, was that we couldnt afford one, and it was inappropriate transport for a family of four... NOT THROUGH CHOICE !!!!

Er....perhaps I didn't explain myself properly

The point I was trying to make was in respect of the attitiude TOWARDS Born Agains and other stereotypical groups and the attitude of some bikers to them. It's not the Born Agains, etc themsleves and I wasn't suggesting that Born Agains are thieves:t Least of all, I wasn't suggesting that Rolfy Dave and Jan are thieves.

My point is that the honour no longer exists due to a lack of respect towards certain groups of riders. Obvioulsy I don't condone this but it's simply a reflection of today's classist and elitest society and those that have and haven't and those that want but can't! Sermon over.
