It is amazing how it got in the state it is ( The EU )
I do not think I have ever met anyone who ever wanted a federal Europe.... All people wanted was a trade area..
But the power hungry rather pathetic no hope politicians got busy working out how they could line their pockets and now look at it.

That’s almost the size of it. It would have been spot on if you’d referred to the politicians along the lines of ‘unelected wannabes that failed as politicians in their own country’.
The EU was only ever meant to be about free trade, not a United States of Europe.

I agreed with you. The Euro will go first followed by the EU.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the concept of uniform rules for member states.
Trouble is everyone thinks they should be an exception. Couldn't help but notice vat in Poland was 8% when over there this week.....
The other issue is that it's not a level playing field in terms of tax collection - residents of Cyprus and Italy for example think paying tax is optional - I know it's pretty bad in this country but at least PAYE covers a fair chunk of it.
