Have took the plunge and bought one off ebay.. ( To save on that feeling of being lost when you ride into a foreign city..am ok with maps its just the finding the hotels / streets etc ) Its got a UK map loaded but not an European one...Wheres the best place to get one to download.?
Also best place for a bracket for it to fit onto my bike ?

Garmin for downloads. You will need all the usernames/passwords/registration codes from previous owner before Garmin will sell you the upgrade.

I upgraded my quest II last year £58ish from memory) for the European City Navigator map set.

Check out the RAM site for brackets and [sp] Telerizer for headstock mounts.

Hope that helps.

I'm sure Silver must have used all his charm and wit to negotiate that deal,
anyone else would have paid about £60:-0)

There are several places to download the mapping suitable for the streetpilot 3 and programs to unlock them but i,m unsure garmin still support that model
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=158
But for my money if your on a tight budget get something like a Nuvi 200 or similar for under £70 with the latest mapping pre installed and stick a plastic bag over it when it rains

Streetpilot 111 ??? Isnt that the one thats about the size & weight of a breezeblock :dunno: and probably the one we had about 6 years ago ???

I seem to think Garmin have stopped supporting that one a while back. You can get maps for it, but not from Garmin.

Sorry to sound so negative (as it did take us all over Europe without any hassles), but that is such an old model, and the maps will be waaaay out of date.

Best of luck with it.

I have version 8 maps on my Streetpilot 111.

They are slow if you allow the unit to recalculate your route or ride at higher speeds.
Mine is OK in the car but I have overshot turnoffs when running on the German Autobahn!!

I tend to plan my route on the computer before I leave home.

Mine has taken me all over Europe but one feature that is lacking is the 'find petrol station, bank, hotel' etc.

Thanks mate. As long as it gets me to the hotel when in a foreign city I'll have to cope with it.
