Got a TomTom 300 and find it absolutely brilliant. When we ask it to take us to a postcode it directs you straight to the door, no problems. Wouldn't be without it.

At the NEC show the new TomTom Rider was on display and due for release this month, I think. If it uses the same software/user interface as the 300 you won't go wrong with it John.

A pal of our's has a NavMan. He's on his third one and still the poxy thing can't direct him out of the village to the town....keeps telling him there's No Driveable Route. :bang:

Nice one Steve, thanks..
I use maps regularly however i was hoping to be more adventurous by trying new roads out and using the track-back facility to create some belting ride-outs for 2006. The maps give a good overview which i like but satnav allows you (or at least should) to carry on without keeping stopping to read the map.

I'll try out the TOM TOM. It needs to be car & bike friendly too.

LOl !!

Nah Andy.....The first NavMan he got kept defaulting to the Italian setting so he couldn't understand a word it was saying. The second one wouldn't recognise large chunks of the country (like Kent, Birmingham, Hertfordshire etc.)...screen would go blank and no sattelite reception at all. The one he has now keeps plotting a route but as you start driving it tells him there is no driveable route to his destination once he's in the car.

He's after a refund to buy a TomTom !!!!

Rhino,

I bought a Dell Axim off EBay for ?117
Bought software off Ebay also - ?cheep
RAM Mount for the BB - ?44
CF - GPS (to plug into the Pocket PC - Axim) - ?40

Hey presto - an extremely good GPS system (and cheep) which is now wired into the Autocom, so I don't even need to look at the map - "Turn left at the lights" etc....

.....I was tempted to upload WAVs of my Mrs - to replace, "Turn around where possible" to my Mrs saying, "You tosser - you missed the turn - now turn around you divv".

So, about 250 quid = GPS system.

Seasonal wishes,
Nosh.
