I thought all were LM (life time) maps these days.

I think most are, but my Garmin only has UK maps that update for free. If I want to go anywhere else, or want to update the speed camera map, I have to pay.Went to Portugal earlier this year but wasn't prepared to pay what Garmin wanted to download the Portugal map. I'd have had to buy France, Spain as well as Portugal if I'd been driving. Kind of gets expensive that way.

In the end. I just downloaded Google maps onto an old Windows phone & used that offline instead, far cheaper.
