French stopovers

My French trip next month includes a stop over at my sis in laws place in a place called Arnac Pompadour, south of Limouge. After that we are heading north east towards Verdun. Can anyone recomend a place to stay en route for a night, possibly biker friendly with proximity to a bar and some culture ?

I've heard about this place, indirectly http://www.motobreaks.com/home.php I haven't been there, the guy is on a French bike forum I'm on (bike club France). I know it's not far from Limoges. Might be worth a look.

Yep enjoyed meeting you & scubashark...Ive looked up the Padirac caves & its definately on our agenda.

hey dave...

dont know what route your planning but if you go due east from limoges then the old town of clermont is full of culture, bars and restaurants ... and theres always a chance of some cheap tyres !!! and the road north over the mountains is pretty spectacular ... apparently theres ski resorts there ... not that i saw any !!!

then coming north im told (have'nt been myself ) that Nevers is a good stop over ....

and on the way south Tours (again the old bit) is nice ... loads of restaurants n little streets n bars etc ...

by the time you finish getting suggestions you'll end up doing about 20000 miles to fit it all in !!!!
